We really were looking forward to going here. But as usual when you have high expectations it is a great disappointment. She ordered a Frech Onion soup. The soup cup/bowl is miniscule 200ml at most. A french onion soup should have bread in it with cheese and then under the broiler. This was ot that. The cup was really really small. Hopefully you an see the picture. The soup came out of a can and was nuked in the microwave. We saw it with our own eyes. Really. For that you pay 5 euro. We also say that they took a waffle out of the freezer and then nuked it. Really again. The coffee comes out of a big machine with pushbuttons. No fresh coffee and no barista. Yuck. I had ordered a bun and seperately a plate of cured ham. I received a bun, cut in half with 2 slies of ham. That was 5.50 Then we had 2 pastries. Mine was ok hers was some cake with cherry/berry topping obviously not fresh and it was not good , very sour. All'n all for 25.50 I had better. Small slices of mediocre pastries. Service was mediocre as well.

The friendly cafe and restaurant in the center of Bad Bentheim near the famous Castle. Lots of choices for yummy cakes and tortes and service is good. They sell their baked goodies and packs them up nicely for take- outs. At Christmas time the smell of this bakery can be very inviting. Be sure not to miss it when visiting Bad Bentheim Burg. But I don’t guarantee you to get a seat if you come here for the breakfast buffet on Sundays, be sure to have a reservation.

Zusammengefasst: Überteuerte Preise für alte Torte mit wenig Sevice. Ich hatte mich so auf ein leckeres Stück Torte gefreut. Platz genommen...okay, niemand hat den noch krümmeligen Tisch abgewischt, nur das an der Theke bestellte Stück Torte hingestellt. Erste Enttäuschung: Das Stück war wirklich sehr klein. Kürzer als eine Gabel und vielleicht 3cm breit. Also ein schmales Spar-Stück. Zweite Enttäuschung: Die Bisquitböden waren komplett ausgetrocknet und hart. Wie ein alter Lebkuchen, der 2 Tage an der Luft liegt. Nicht essbar. Dass nur noch drei Stücke übrig waren, hätte nachdenklich machen müssen. Die Torte wartete wohl schon mehrere Tage auf den Verkauf...dreist, sowas noch zu servieren. Die frische Torte stand unangeschnitten daneben. Die jungen Servicekräfte waren mit der Reklamation überfordert und fragten dir Chefin/ältere Kollegin, ob die Torte so sein müsse oder sie mir ein anderes Stück geben sollen. Hab mich dann für eine andere Torte entschieden. War okay, abermals ein sehr kleines Stück und geschmacklich nicht besonders . Die bezahlten 4,65€ oder 4,75€ definitiv nicht wert. Dort gehe ich definitiv nicht mehr hin.

Food and drinks are excellent, prices are reasonable (good value for money) service however though friendly was slow and chaotic.

food and drinks are not served at the same time or within a reasonable timeframe, for example wife received food first 15 minutes toast for both children arrived my order was forgotten/not communicated to the kitchen same happend to second order of drinks. mix-up of the order for example warm milk served while cold milk was ordered.

Staff was young and seemed inexperienced.

Management should really improve this things so this could be a great...

It was our first time at the bakery, We were disappointed.While waiting for a while before a young waiter came to us , our son asked for croissants or a waffle. The waiter replied that there were no more croissants or waffles, just cakes. Later, we saw a waffle coming out from the kitchen to be served at another table. This is a strange behavior that is misunderstandable, even if we tried getting explications. We did not get any answers as the waiter just looked away. We definitely don't...
