Summary: good food with a nice atmosphere and friendly service
Best dish: truffle pasta: delicious, well-rounded flavor and al dente noodles; nicely finished off at the table in Parmesan loaf with a choice of the grapa added purely if you like the intense grapa flavor or flambé, the option I went for; only critique the pasta was a bit cold
Dishes (- negative / = ok / + positive): = veal pelmeni appetizer: the flavor was a tad bit too bland and I wasn’t convinced by the sauce, which I think might have been pumpkin/butternut = schnitzel: nice crisp but just a schnitzel, nothing extraordinarily noteworthy, like at many good schnitzel restaurants; we opted for fries, which were good, instead of the cucumber/potato salad Cesar salad: nice and fresh with a well-seasoned sauce good apero spritz good cremant
Service: very friendly it took quite long for our appetizer to arrive even though we were early for dinner and almost alone we ordered the schnitzel with the cucumber salad (normally it comes with a cucumber potato salad), but that somehow got lost and we instead got the Cesar salad, which we had to pay for - a gesture would have been nice
Price: = high price for value
Atmosphere: nice modern interior good for dinner with friends or a date
My rating system - i focus on the food first and foremost. I aim to be truthful and try not to be biased by friendly service or other circumstances. 5: excellent - I am rigorous in handing out 5 ratings 4*: good 3*: ok 2*:...
Read moreVery cosy modern restaurant in the heart of Mitte along Oranienburger. Str near Tachelles.
Atmosphere and service is 5 star the whole way. There was even less to complain about with the excellent menu, which was small (about 5 or 6 dishes per course) full of simple yet superbly balanced dishes.
For starters, we had scallops, and the pulpe and then mains were the salmon, and my wife had the duck breast. We ended with the cheese and the cherry ragout. All perfect. Excellent consistency throughout. Tasty and not without more than one element of flair in every one of the dishes. For instance, the spicy sauce in the cheese selection was something I hadn't had before and was incredible.
There is a varied and delicious selection of drinks available, including a decent selection of "open bottles," allowing you to sample them by the glass. Really nice touch and something not offered in many other restaurants in Mitte.
Bill came to a shade under €150 for 2 people and talking of the bill.
One small complaint I had was that when we came to pay, the tip was not automatically added to the credit card bill. So, as I didn't have any cash and the waiter seemed unwilling to redo the bill, I failed to leave a tip, which is something j don't do very often (unless deliberately).
So, in conclusion, make an effort to come here as you won't eat much better anywhere in Mitte, and I would be to bring a bit of cash...

Never again.
Sehr schade.
Never again. The price/performance ratio here isn't right. Spending €80 including a 10% tip for a single person can be okay. But here it definitely wasn't. The friendly service staff and the concept behind the dishes are positive. I had the schnitzel menu. The tuna tataki I ordered as a replacement for the regular appetizer was obviously prepared in advance and, while well-thought-out in terms of flavor, arrived cold. The tuna had seen the pan hours before being served.
These classic schnitzels (the reason for my visit) came to the table as a child's portion. Ha, the regular Wiener Schnitzel outside the menu (€52!!) is larger, according to the service. The quality was a 7/10. Good, but in Berlin you can get better and, above all, larger dishes for the same price. A real shame; I was really looking forward to it.
No, the dessert was a disgrace: Crème brûlée with strawberry sorbet. The flame used to caramelize the sugar had also been extinguished hours before it reached my table. Everything was fully prepared in advance and cold. The sugar had already begun to evaporate. The sorbet was a strawberry cream ice cream. This criticism elicited no shame or apology from the otherwise friendly server. It's their fault.
My overall rating is 3 out of 5, and the friendly and entertaining service played a positive role here. At €80 for one person, I don't recommend it.
Are the target audience the twofold, rather jolly, alcohol- and cigarette-consuming corporate groups and tourists, who are unlikely to return anyway, the target audience? They may be functional. As a Berliner, I won't be returning. I would have been happy to expand my list of good restaurants. An unexpected experience after all the good reviews on...
