The decor of the place is amazing. I guess the decor had extra effort due to independence day. Nice place for dates. The service is nice. The waiters are quick and chatty.

The food: We ordered the pahadi paneer and that was really good and mint chutney was great. For main dishes we have paneer makhani (butter paneer), malabari paneer and naan and jeera rice. The panner makhani was good and paneer malabari was amazing. It was slightly spicy and really flavourful. I had told them to make the dishes with desi style and I think that made the difference. The naan was also quite good. The complaint would be for the rice. The jeera rice was mentioned as some fancy basmati rice being served. But the jeera rice didn't feel like long grained basmati rice and sometimes it was clumpy. I would not expect that in a restaurant. The taste of jeera rice was still good though. Then to finish the meal I ordered extra tandoori roti and I think it was a reheated roti, because it didn't feel fresh and was not very hot. Some part of the roti seemed undercooked. I told this to the waiter but did not demand a replacement as I was full and had eaten half of it.

For dessert we had sizzling brownie and it was really amazing. We also got a complementary cake due to independence day. They also have very good chai.

Moreover, when you pay the tip options are 10, 15, 20% directly. There was no option to give a user-defined amount. Or otherwise 0 tip.

Overall good but they need to improve the rice served with curries and tandoori roti has to be really improved, it...

Having been disappointed by the local ‘German cusine’ we decided to try something more familiar. So we came to Amrit.

(I will add we are an Anglo Italian couple and Italian friend and that we ate Indian cusine on a regular basis in London where many chefs are from the Bengali, Punjab and other Northern areas of India, thus recognising the multitude cuisines and traditions of that great country.)

So, warm friendly welcome, “Sit where you like sir”, menus instantly in English and many dishes although described differently were similar to those we ate in London. I chose a samosa and a lamb curry, (Khadai Ghosht?) my companions two different chicken dishes. We had popadoms, the beer arrived and off we went.

The speedy service was a delight and the food was hot and well presented and of course quite delicious.

However, in London when having a ‘ruby’ we like a real arse burner, where here the ‘temperature’ had been turned down quite a bit, possibly to accommodate the German palate.

I’m not at all disappointed with the quality or quantity, (a tad too much really) but, was a bit underwhelmed at the lack of spicy heat with which to quench with ‘Cobra’ beer. I had to make do with ‘Amchi’ beer which is a German brew but no complaints there as it did the job.

I would definitely eat here again and my two companions would do so again.

All I can say boys is...

I had two experiences at Amrit, and everytime the food is great but the personnel behaves in unpolite ways. I had a reservation and was then assigned an unprepared table which took a long time to get ready, and had to tell the personnel several times that i was not alone but waiting for other people. The service was fast but they took a long time to come to us and forgot about us. At some point we were asked multiple times if we wanted something more, to which we responded no. At that point, the personnel stopped being nice to us and just took away all of our glasses - very unprofessional and rude in the restaurant world. One feels thrown out. When one of us got up the waiter decided it was time for us to pay and asked us to do so. We commented the total as it seemed too high, to which we were told "just believe me and pay" instead of being able to see the details as "it was impossible". As we insisted he finally managed to show us and it was the wrong ticket. He apologised. We were then asked to hurry as we paid in a very rude way. Once we paid we had to hear an unkind comment about how we did not leave any tip - but how would we as we were so badly treated and almost got scammed ? I recommend the food, but the service is really terrible. Restaurant is quite...

My friends and I were visiting Berlin and needed a good restaurant with good food and atmosphere for dinner. We found AMIT and decided to try it because we love to do Indian. The place was crowded but the atmosphere was really nice and beautiful. Staff also were friendly and trying to keep up the pace. Although our food took really long to come but we understood it was due to the crowds. However, when our meals came, one friend had his own meal hot but mine and other two was not hot. Just barely lukewarm. I ordered lamb curry and the side of rice wasn’t also as hot although was better than the lamb curry as regards to temperature. I complained to my friends but went on to eat anyway as we were really hungry from touring the city. Sadly when I landed back in London the next morning, I had serous stomach issues that had to extend till the next day. My advise to anyone dining, if you must wait this long to get your meals, only demand it arrives fresh and hot if you’re like me that gets sick if food isn’t freshly made and steaming hot. Overall, atmosphere was amazing and staff were great!

Being away from home and missing Indian food I decided to eat here. During my visit the restaurant was clearly popular, filled with tourists and group bookings. There were also a few couples with the odd solo diner like myself. I was promptly shown my table and given a menu. There was no shortage of staff which was great as I didn't need to flag anyone for attention. I was served with a smile and my order was taken within a fair amount of time. Starters arrived pretty quickly with a reasonable time before the mains were served. The ambience had a hustle and bustle feel though not distracting. I was disappointed with a lack of a certain few options in the menu, namely no onion bhaji, paneer tikka masala or salted lassi (only mango). Being a vegetarian I expected there to be a few more options to choose from. Each main is served with a generous portion of rice and salad. Paneer is homemade which is pretty good. The naan unfortunately was very stodgy and I did not finish it thinking it may have not fully cooked through. All in all a medicore Indian restaurant.
