Ban Vegan — Restaurant in Berlin

Normally if I don’t like a service I let it go but here I want to give this restaurant a negative review. I was eating there yesterday and both the food and the venue were good enough (not very central though). However, when I went to pay, I noticed a small sign by the door that said “only cash”. The waitress did not mention anything about it when she served me earlier. I did not have much cash on me but since my food was only 12.90 euros and I only had taken a bottle of water, so I figured I should be able to cover it. When the waitress gave me the total (18,80) I told her that I was 0,80 cents short on cash (water was unexpectedly 5,90!) but I could pay by card. She did not take my card as their machine did not take foreign cards (are we in the middle age?) and instead of giving me 0,80 discount and allow me to pay with the cash I had, which a reasonable service provider would do, she forced me to go and withdraw money from the nearby ATM. All that for 0.80 cents! I never ask for any discounts when dining out but here the problem was theirs, as they don’t accept cards and I think that a more reasonable person would have understood that it made little sense to force a customer to go out of the restaurant and withdraw money (and pay the bank fee) for just 0,80 cents. Very, very poor customer service. BTW, I don’t live in Berlin (I live in a country where every transaction is electronic/with card), and I understand that asking to pay cash to customers may be “normal “ in Berlin. But here the situation was just paradoxical. Whether restaurants do so to avoid paying taxes or because the taxes/bank fees are too high, they should not pass these costs to...

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Great food and friendly service. Very authentic dishes and loved the portion sizes! The presentation of the food was very nice too.👌

The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating was because of one aspect of customer service I didn't appreciate - however aside from this, service was friendly and helpful. They brought out 2 entre dishes that we did not order. She insisted that we did, however we did not. She stood there insisting that we did and that we should take it. Then she went through the orders list she had written and the dishes were in fact not ordered by us. YET she maintained that we should take them. In this case, it was not our mistake, yet we were pressured to take them and pay for them. I would suggest that either she should have taken them back to the kitchen OR given them for free as they had been made.

Beautiful place, beautiful food. For me personally Sunrise something dish SUPER spicy. And I am a fan of spicy. But Madam B noodles in Tartuffe sauce better than actual non vegan version!!! Absolutely amazing. Other main dishes are ok, I am not the biggest fans of bowls but the ingredients are nicely cooked, well flavored... My friend though did not finish her bowl since it was too salty... I tried it, but for me it was also too salty. if you are a fan of bowl rice dishes,and prefer a bit saltier food, go for it. But even if you are, I would still go for truffle pasta (Madam B). It is something special! All the deserts and drinks are also visually amazing, special and worth trying 😍 EDIT: waiter was super nice!!! Very helpful with recommendations and payment....
