Café Cup Arkona — Restaurant in Berlin

A warm, hospitable, family owned café with wonderful coffee drinks, tasty dessert treats, freshly baked goods and a small ice cream parlor. The Cup overlooks a lushly tree lined park from the corner of Ruppinerstraße and Arkonaplatz in a quiet residential neighborhood on the Mitte-Prenzlauer Berg border near Mauerpark. Sunny outdoor seating or comfy interior booths. Clean restrooms. The staff are friendly and super helpful. The patrons consist of locals, a few techie types quietly working on their laptops and moms picking up their kids from a school nearby. After school things bustle for a while with smiling kids lining up for ice cream. The rest of the time is pretty chill. I recommend the grilled paninis with a small green salad side. The scrambled eggs are also delicious. Easily accessible from public transit on nearby Brunnenstr or Bernauer Str lines. Ample daytime parking in neighborhood. Best to walk or bicycle. Open for breakfast and lunch. Reasonably priced menu. Good quality for value....

I was here with a friend and my daughter one Sunday afternoon. The cafe is fine—nothing special—and initially our server was very friendly. However, she suddenly turned very hostile around the time we paid—ignoring us afterwards when we approached the counter to buy some candy and then snapping at us for politely waiting for her to react. (Perhaps she expected a bigger tip from my friend when she heard us speaking English.) I obviously won't be returning: there are plenty of cafes in Berlin that are much nicer and where the staff doesn't subject their customers to...

Als langjährige Kundin bin ich gerade sehr erschüttert über die negativen Kommentare. Diese decken sich überhaupt nicht mit meinen Erfahrungen. Ich war und bin im Cafe Cup Arkona steht's höflich und korrekt behandelt worden. Das Personal ist sehr locker und freundlich, die Speisen und Getränke sind sowohl Qualitativ, als auch optisch sehr gut. Es hat keinen Stil und zeugt von Charakterschwäche, bei einer Bewertung als ersten Satz die, und nur die, Vermutung zu äussern, man ist wegen seinen Aussehen schlecht behandelt worden. Liebe Schwestern Nguyen: vielleicht immer die ganze Geschichte schreiben: Wenn man beim Bestellen von Eis gefragt wird, ob man sie to go haben möchte oder im Restaurant, sich dann für to go entscheidet und dann trotzdem im Aussenbereich des Restaurants Platz nimmt, wird man in jedem Restaurant in Berlin darauf hingewiesen, die Plätze zu räumen. Zumal Verzehr im Restaurant auch anders versteuert wird, als to go. Und ja auch, wenn im Aussenbereich Plätze frei sind. Und ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass die Kennerin sie des Platzes wegen ihres Aussehens verwiesen hat, das ist lediglich eine Interpretation ihrerseits. Das ist Verleumdung und Rufschädigung und lässt sie Beide in keinem guten Licht stehen. Aber mit dieser Einstellung kann man ja auch durchs Leben gehen. Immer wenn einem was nicht passt, diese “Karte” zu ziehen. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und hoffe, dass alle die sich jetzt in die negativen Kommentare reinziehen lassen, sich vor Ort mal ein eigenes...
