Groschen Keller — Restaurant in Berlin

Update 2024:

I will easily update this one: I was wrong! The food at this location is outstanding!!! My initial impressions on service and atmosphere still hold true. In the recent months we were here on multiple occasions and not a single dish was a let down. The Senfschnitzel is moist and crispy, it's one of the few last places we're your fried potatoes are made to order

A very cosy old Berlin place in a green area. Atmosphere top. We went there because of all the good reviews and I have to say in advance that the food was also very good. The service though was very very very slow. Not sure what went wrong on the day of our visit, but we were waiting for 1 hour for our appetizers. And the another on hour after we finished eating to someone come and take away our plates and so we can pay. We wanted to order dessert, but after one hour waiting without anyone even checking on the guests ( we were on terrace and there were other guests also) it was already too much, and we decided to just pay and leave.

Food was very good and I will give it another try. We also received and apology and even a free beer for the waiting of an appetizer, but it is really not clear to me why then again to let us wait for sooooo long after meal.

Because of all the good reviews I would give this place another chance later, but so far service really brought down...

We visited Groschenkeller today evening and we were absolutely thrilled! The food was excellent - we had the schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce, fries, and salad. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the sauce was simply delicious. The fries were crispy and the salad was fresh and tasty.

But the food wasn't the only thing that impressed us. The service was very friendly and attentive. We felt really welcome and well taken care of. The rustic ambiance of the restaurant was a perfect match for the food and added to a great atmosphere.
