The falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, while the hummus was velvety smooth and perfectly seasoned.
For my main course, I opted for the kebab, which was expertly grilled and bursting with flavor. The combination of tender, juicy meat and fragrant spices made for an unforgettable meal.

Read moreI regret to change my original review which you can read below. But if I wanted a big heaping plate of misogyny for dinner I would have stayed in Vienna. I had only come in the day before, but one night I came at 22:00h. It was busy. I wanted a teller so I stood in the teller line. Before I could say a word, they told me, “this line isn’t for you, this is the teller line, you go stand over there and get a doner.” “But I want a teller,” I told them. After the shock wore off they thought about it and decided maybe this once they would give me one. The guy in front of me ordered a donerfleisch teller and I stared at it with hungry eyes, the piles of meat and colorful salad, the Soße, and the generous hand with which the chef slugged great slogs of golden olive oil over the salad and whatever else. I ordered exactly the same thing, using my best diction and even pointing to the thing on the overhead menu. The chef glared at me and got out a small plate and put some meat and rice on it and shoved it back to me. “With salad, please,” I said, again pointing to the menu with its photo and description. “No,” the chef told me, folding his arms and refusing to take back the plate. “Not for you. You already ordered. It’s too late. No salad.” He starts to yell at me.
Here my tiny bit of German just dies and I ask the woman next to me to translate. “You have to say the number when you order,” she says I me in English. I grit my teeth and ask for the number, even though with the limited menu it would not be possible to confuse my order with anything else.
The chef glares and eventually throws a few naked cucumbers and tomatoes onto a plate and throws them at me. No delicious olive oil, no salt, no lemon.
I find the meat salty and chewy but the male chauvinism completely indigestible.

Prior review:
Imren is one of my go-to reliable places where I know I can count on hearty, solid food that tastes good and is well spiced and abundant and fairly inexpensive. I wish there were a menu because I suspect I am missing some options, but hey, I am getting good at pointing at whatever’s on display. The meat is rich and satisfying and just the thing for dreary days. The stews are abundant and warming. The salads are fresh and zingy. The cheese pide is extravagantly cheesy. ....I go to Imren whenever I want to feel like a big manly Turkish dude hunkering over his lunch. I don’t know why but I am usually the only woman there. But women can enjoy Man Food just as...
Read moreLast Friday I was hungry and passing by Imren, and thought why not? It had been a while since my last visit. I have been going there for a couple of years. It's always open, serving Döner, Pide, and other Turkish main dishes and desserts. I have tried a great variety of dishes there. It's always simple, tasty, more closer to a home cooked meal than imbiss food. Prices are very reasonable as well. This time I tried the Döner im Brot for the first time (I usually had the shawarma there before). The bread was perfectly toasted, the meat was delicious, the salad and sauce not too much and not too little. Very well balanced. In short the sandwich was perfect. (It should be noted that the meat is marinated with a spice mix that is not like any other, you will either love or hate.) And the cherry on top was the dessert, which was crispy and fresh.. quite delicious. Whether you're coming wandering the streets of Berlin late at night looking for hangover food, or you're looking for a place for a quick simple meal, Imren is a very solid choice. Note: Normally I would rate it a 4, but because they're open for so long.. the prospect of getting food like this at 4 am deserves 1 extra star...
