LA PAZ — Restaurant in Berlin

My review is based only on the food, which we did not eat at the restaurant. It was a home delivery. Therefore, I cannot comment on the location or the service. I have eaten in a few so-called “Mexican” restaurants in Berlin, and this is one of the worst. Their food cannot be considered even Tex-Mex, let alone, Mexican. The dishes I ordered tasted so-so, but they were an odd Asian/Turkish version of Tex-Mex food. Nothing is authentic, most dishes which should be prepared exclusively with Corn tortillas, were prepared with wheat tortillas, the “tacos al pastor” which should be only marinated pork with grilled pineapple, coriander and onion, on a soft white corn tortilla, were a complete different thing. If you want authentic Mexican food, there is a Mexican grocery shop called Chilli und Paprika, a few steps from this restaurant where they sell ALL the authentic ingredients this restaurant should be using, or the restaurant Maria Bonita if you go towards Eberswalderstrasse. I am Mexican, and this is absolutely nothing related to how we eat in Mexico. It is a shame that the real gastronomy of Mexico is not known because it is very varied, rich in flavors and ingredients inherited from pre-Hispanic peoples and the Hispanic mix. What is known is an attempt at TexMex food. Nachos, Burritos, and Chimichangas are not eaten except on the border of Mexico, close to the United States, and Americans consume them more than us and have made them more famous. I don't think they know a quesadilla with huitlacoche, stuffed poblano peppers, a Tlayuda with cecina, or a lime soup. If you want TexMex maybe you can try, but Mexican...

I would avoid this place. Came here with a desire if mexican food. Did not get any nachos as someone else wrote. Food came in 10 mins though, to be honest already that's a bad sign. Waitress didn't know what enchiladas de pollo is and couldn't say it, she referred to the number on the menu. But the dish was really not nice at all. It was presented in a way you'd get in a school canteen. It didn't really have any taste and the beans with the sauce looked like they came straight out of a can. On the good side, the atmosphere outdoor is nice and the waitress was nice, but avoid this place if you have a desire for mexican food. Or just tasty...
