McDonald's — Restaurant in Berlin

Life, right?? As predictable as it is arbitrary. I wasn’t planning on stopping on the way home.

All day I was distracted. I found out this morning that my old friend Doug had passed away. We hadn’t spoken since New Year’s, and even then, only briefly. We made each other a promise to catch up properly, just before hanging up the call.

It’s a beautiful day. Something in the wind made the trees seem to lean in, like bowing their heads. Trying to listen in on a secret. Maybe it’s just me.

I didn’t want to stop, but I’d forgotten to get lunch today, and my stomach took over the decision making. I tapped away on the touchscreen mindlessly. I was too distracted to make big choices. So, Royal with Cheese it was. Like in Pulp Fiction. But who cares.

A group of teens sat at the table next to me, talking loudly about something I couldn’t understand. A father and his son sat at the other end of the place. The kid was happy. The father wasn’t. The place smelled like lack of ambition and old oil.

I got my meal. It was what it was, a story that should be told once and never repeated. As predictable as I wish life was.

To be honest i have never had a nice dinner here. My food has always been late (had to wait for 15 minutes or longer). And most of the staff is unable to understand English while there is an international four star hotel around the corner. Let me explain this, i ordered a Royal Quarter Pounder Bacon, without Pickles. Had to wait the usual 15 minutes before i got my order, turns out i got the regular Quarter Pounder without the bacon, but atleast it was without the pickles. I went back and explained what happened, asking if i could get my burger with bacon. Apparently its really hard to understand for them that i ordered a burger with bacon, received one without bacon but they dont see the problem since it was without pickles. Cold or burnt food isnt a big surprise here, service staff is unfriendly and walking around like sloths cus they have all the time in the world apparently. I'm done with this McDonalds.

The staff are not the friendliest bunch. It wasnt even busy when I was there but I felt that I, as the customer, had to defuse the situation when my order wasnt processed correctly. Normally it's not too difficult to resolve a burger not having sauce or gurkens without a full scale argument.

Also giving the restaurant a one star as the last time I was here there was no control over social distancing and people were crowded around the small order and collection area. Looks like the arrangement hasnt changed so i wouldn't advise coming during busy times whilst Corona is still a problem..

Must say that my order was sorted out after me saying sorry and explaining that the order was for a child but our apple pie was forgotten. We did get this eventually when we went back and so we just sat in the outside area to eat.
