Ristorante 41Quarantuno — Restaurant in Berlin

I’m done with this restaurant. I used to be a regular as they are the closest option to my house. One of the older waiters there is not friendly at all. He gave me a very dirty look multiple times when I asked for tap water - even though I’d ordered a good amount of food and wine and had been there quite a few times - while another, more friendly waiter willingly gave me water. The older one however, would either give me dirty looks or even chuckle to himself when I’d ask for tap water (keep in mind I’m a student), and then of course he would bring us a bottle to charge us for more money. This recurring incident made me stop eating there, opting instead to order the food to go to my place and enjoy my free tap water - a blessing every German has. Everything was fine until I started making special requests for my pizzas (a normal thing for any pizza restaurant). They overcharged me on multiple occasions for the pizza I ordered, each time with a new number 11 euros.. 13 euros.. 13.50... all for the exact same pizza. We called and argued with them on the phone, speaking to their entire staff one by one until their boss finally agreed to refund us what was overcharged - though very unwillingly. It was funny they told us on the phone that 5 euros won’t make us richer and won’t make them poorer, and yet they seem to take every opportunity they can to take more money from you, be it tap water or some olives on a pizza when you ask them to remove more expensive artichokes. My last order will be the final, as I made my order as usual, got charged extra for no reason, but this time, perhaps they knew who I was over the phone, the pizza was very bland and minimal, it didn’t have a lot on it and looked nothing like in the photos or my usual pizza. Suddenly the quality went from gourmet to a regular street pizza.. while charging gourmet prices. My experience with this restaurant has me frustrated and disappointed. I will not be visiting again.

Update: the owner’s response here completely disregards my experience and claims you can always have tap water when clearly he has not trained all his staff to do so. And while adding something to a pizza comes with an extra charge, replacing artichokes with olives shouldn’t make that much of a price difference. And even if it does, my issue is with their lack of consistency with these things - with no clear rules as to how to handle it. I still have not been to this restaurant and plan on keeping the way. Plenty of more friendly alternatives in the neighborhood. If you want to know what type of restaurant this is, just look through the negative reviews on here and see how their owner answers them - gaslighting and denying any wrongdoing instead of owning up to his actions and...

Das Essen war sehr lecker! Aber leider wurden wir vom Service sehr enttäuscht. Es fing damit an, dass wir 4 mal während des Essens gefragt wurden, ob wir das teure Oil des Hauses kaufen wollen, obwohl wir mehrfach abgelehnt haben. Als wir wiederholt ablehnten hat der Kellner meine Oma gebeten zu erklären wieso nicht... die Arme muss sich doch nicht rechtfertigen? Mein Vater hat ein Steak von 200g bestellen wollen, der Kellner meinte jedoch "wir empfehlen ein anderes Steak" ohne jedoch zu erwähnen, dass das andere Steak deutlich mehr kostet, für 2 Personen gedacht ist und ca. 1kg Fleisch beinhaltet. Statt Saftschorle habe ich puren Saft erhalten, Eiswürfel um die gebeten wurde wurden uns auch nicht gebracht, das war jedoch nur ein kleines Manko weswegen ich niemals eine schlechte Bewertung geben würde. Nach dem, zugegeben sehr leckeren, Essen haben wir um die Rechnung gebeten, unsere Bestellung war also abgeschlossen. Plötzlich kommt der Kellner zu uns und fragt ob jemand einen Espresso zum Abschluss möchte. Wie man es aus anderen Lokalen kennt, sind diese für gewöhnlich auf Kosten des Hauses, nicht jedoch hier (hat uns jedoch keiner gesagt, wir haben es dann später auf der Rechnung sehen müssen). Nach dem Espresso haben wir keine Rechnung erhalten sondern die Frage bekommen ob wir Dessert wollen, wir haben alle dankend abgelehnt und um die Rechnung gebeten, erneut. Plötzlich kam ein weiterer Kellner mit kleinen Dessert-häppchen und präsentierte sie uns mit den Worten "hier ist noch etwas aus der Küche" jeder Mensch weiß was "Gruß aus der Küche" bedeutet, es bedeutet dass es dem Gast geschenkt wird. Wir haben schließlich mehrfach gesagt wir wollen keinen Nachtisch, als wir dachten es wäre ein Gruß aus der Küche haben einige von uns jedoch einen genommen, wir warteten immernoch auf die Rechnung. Nun wurden wir erneut gefragt ob wir noch etwas wollen, Kaffee, Schnaps, als wir diesmal sehr dringlich abgelehnt haben und zum bezahlen extra den Tisch verlassen haben, da keiner uns die Rechnung gebracht hatte, mussten wir feststellen, dass uns all die Aufmerksamkeiten in Rechnung gestellt wurden, um die wir nie gebeten hatten. Wir haben einen Kellner darauf angesprochen was das soll und er erwiderte, das sein Kollege wohl häufiger auf etwas unehrliche Art und Weise Gewinn erzielen will und das er es von ihm kennt und selbst schade findet. Wir fanden es ebenfalls schade! Als wir dann den Kellner der uns all das Zeug untergejubelt hatte angesprochen haben, wusste dieser dass er eigentlich nicht richtig gehandelt hatte und druckste ein wenig rum, änderte jedoch nichts an der Rechnung. Unsere Rechnung belief sich ohnehin auf über 500€, die unnötigen Spielchen zum Geldmachen, wären nicht nötig gewesen. So gesehen haben sie mit der geschickten und unfairen Wortwahl ungefähr 50€ mehr verdient, wir wohnen jedoch nur 10 Minuten entfernt und wären zu vielen Anlässen mit weiteren Gästen, hohen Rechnungen und freundlichem Benehmen hier her gekommen. Jetzt aber sicherlich nicht erneut. Den Gewinn, den man durch gezieltes Tricksen gemacht hat, hätte man mit Ehrlichkeit multiplizieren können... Bei so gutem Essen eigentlich...

Nice restaurant in Friedenau. First of all: if you are looking for sun, especially in the late afternoon, go there!

Outside and inside: well done! It been a year now since the restaurant moved in. And I have to say: they changed everything to its best. Small little details and well coordinated colors give the whole place a very nice atmosphere. It's cozy, warm and generously applied. The staff is exactly what you expect from a good Italien restaurant: everyone gives you the feeling of being a very good friend and guest of the house. The food was good, fresh and tasty. We had Salat, pizza and dessert and were all happy.

I recommend to book your table in advance. In the summer time there are quit a lot of guests there.

Don't be afraid of the autobahn close by. It won't disturb...
