Smoke & Barrel — Restaurant in Berlin

Let me start by saying this is my third unsuccessful attempt at eating Pignut.

The first two involved items from the menu not being available. Understandable as we did not reserve our items in the morning.

This last time I arrived at 2:30PM. We grabbed two menus and sat down.

The woman working seemed a bit occupied but noticed us and another table waiting.

After 18 minutes I walked over and asked if she can come take our order. She responded:

"We open at 3:00PM, and our chef still isn't here".

This is at 2:48PM and on google it specifically says you open at noon.

Even worse, this woman watched us sitting down and didn't even have the decency to ask if we wanted a drink or tell us of the new opening hours.

I'm a fairly easy critic and like to give places second chances but I would need a fairly convincing reason to return to...

Firstly the service here is great everyone is very friendly and super helpful and they will always try and accommodate you. Yes you do need to reserve ribs this is stated in several places on busy days, why you may ask? The entire restaurant is run from a market hall stand which has small smokers so it is only logical as with all BBQ places that stock is limited.

The food and drink is simply divine and the quality of meat is top notch. I don't think I have tasted better ribs with just the right amount of fat to provide perfect flavour. Each menu choice has been carefully put together by the top chefs that work here. I couldn't recommend this place more and will be returning with friends and family when they visit...

The Monday crew at the Pignut KaDeWe location made our BBQ experience the Best! The USA style customer service was friendly and helpful. The beverages with ice cubes were very refreshing. There are three bbq sauces to choose from sweet to spicy. We tried the ribs, brisket, pulled chicken and pulled pork and with green salad, cole slaw, creamed corn and wonderful bbq beans.
