The Catch – Setting the Bar for Sushi in Berlin

Berlin isn’t typically known for its sushi scene—without coastal access, finding truly exceptional sushi here has always been difficult. However, The Catch sets a new benchmark for quality, offering one of the best sushi experiences the city has to offer.

Ambiance & Service:

From the moment you step inside, The Catch impresses with its spotless, modern, and elegantly minimalist interior. The sleek yet welcoming design creates an atmosphere that feels refined without being pretentious.

Service is another standout feature. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in the guest experience. Whether offering recommendations or ensuring every dish arrives with care, their professionalism adds to the restaurant’s appeal.

The Culinary Experience:

Despite the challenges of sourcing top-tier seafood in Berlin, The Catch delivers fresh, high-quality ingredients prepared with skill and attention to detail. Every dish is crafted with care, balancing traditional techniques with subtle creative touches.

Standout Dishes:

Tuna Roll – A simple yet perfectly executed roll with fresh, buttery tuna and balanced textures, proving that quality ingredients make all the difference.

Beef Tartar – A dish bursting with rich, well-balanced flavors, highlighting both the quality of the meat and expert seasoning.

Octopus – Cooked to just the right texture, tender yet firm, showing real precision in preparation.

Karaage with Ponzu Mayo – The Japanese fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and elevated by the bright, tangy ponzu mayo, making it a definite highlight.

Sea Urchin Nigiri with Caviar – Perhaps the most indulgent bite of the night, this creamy, briny sea urchin topped with delicate caviar offered a luxurious and memorable flavor experience.

Value & Conclusion:

The Catch is on the pricier side, but for Berlin, the quality makes it worth it. The combination of fresh ingredients, precise execution, and excellent service sets it apart as one of the city’s top sushi destinations.

While Berlin may never compete with the world’s sushi capitals, The Catch shows that great sushi is possible here. For those looking for a refined and satisfying sushi experience, this restaurant is one of the best choices...

I was 4 times and for me was the best restaurant in Berlin for a fish but that time was super disappointing. Especially i offer a friend of mine and I told him what a great service you have( the best in Berlin) but it was a disaster. I book the table for 8.30 and we came 2-3 min in advance. We were asked to wait in the bar where we were waiting for 15 min after that the girl offer to lead us to the table but as we were walking the table was occupied right in front of us by some guys that just came and we were asked to wait more. We were waiting 7-8 more minutes in the mid of restaurant just because of some mistake! And there is no manager and there re trying their best.. sorry??? But what is more fun that that time there were lot of tables prepared and available and till the end of our dinner fee were still free. After that my friend were so disappointed that offer us to leave right away but I insists we still stay as the food is good. Than we make an order but the first meal came was not ours. The wine we took was not a right temperature. After I complain about the first meal I was told that it was brought by mistake and they weren’t charge for it. But after the girl came and told us that though it was brought by mistake it will be a compliment for us for waiting. Sorry. If it’s mistake- it’s not a compliment. And if you already give it like mistake it can’t be also a present. Moreover we ordered enough food so we don’t need compliments like that. The other thing my friend asked for salmon tartar instead they bring the roles with tartar( i can consider small misunderstanding but with all happened before it’s not good and I still think that if you haven’t that in the menu it’s better to clarify it with the one making an order). We ordered another dish that was never brought to us. Though my friend gave 20euro tip ( he is educated always to leave tips) but I believe it should be the opposite. I was recommending your place for so many people and now I’m feeling guilty for that. P.S. fatty tune and the shrimps...

The Catch is not really a vegan-friendly restaurant, but my sushi-loving friend wanted to have some high-end sushi, so we went here. It turned out to be a great decision.

The vegan options were, as expected, very limited and not labeled, but the waiter was very accommodating when I asked about it. I ended up having edamame, cucumber/avocado rolls without mayo, a Japanese mushroom plate, and mochi for dessert. Everything tasted fantastic. The Japanese mushroom plate is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. The texture of the mushroom was incredible and the sauce it was soaked in was out-of-this-world delicious. To drink I had a cocktail and two Sakes. The cocktail was amazing and the sake was probably the best sake I've ever had in my life.

Apart from the incredible food, drinks and service, I also really loved the interior design and atmosphere. It was modern, black, red and neon. My friend and I had great seats enabling us to look into the open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant and see the professionals prepare the dishes. It was very entertaining.

Despite The Catch being anything but vegan-friendly, it was able to create an unforgettable experience for this vegan, and for that I'll be...

We had a great evening ! Fresh fish and daring sushi combinations left me with some flavor profiles which I haven't tasted before. I am thankful for that. The rice to fish ratio was perfect for my taste. Sadly they were out of King crab as we'd love to taste that sashimi to find out if that would have been just as good as the scallops and red prawns. The tempura shrimps were a bit oily and missing lightness in the batter but really tasty overall, especially with the soy dipping base. The mushrooms plate was crunchy and Overall worth to try. Service was attentive and polite. You hardly noticed them. Also the cocktails were nicely done, all of them (we had 4) had a smooth texture and interesting flavor profiles. The menu was hard to read. Dim light , eggshell colored paper and small fonts. Luckily you can take a picture and them zoom in to it 😅 5 years ago I was here already and wasn't too impressed but i dare to say the catch has some of the best sushi in town now. It comes with a hefty price point though, (270 euro for 2) which makes it more of a special occasion destination rather than your weekly spot for your sushi craving.
