Total disappointment. Got Aloo Chole that tasted bad. Not only was it objectively bland, it tasted like the chickpeas were old. My partner tasted it too and agreed. When I informed the waiter he started a discussion on how I would know how an Indian dish was supposed to taste like. I told him that I eat Indian food regularly and I've eaten food in Sri Lanka, if this is enough to qualify my dislike for their Aloo Chole? Then he said the cook was working there for over 30 years and never had a complaint. What am I supposed to reply to that? I'm not sending back food for fun. It does not bring me joy to do this and I feel uncomfortable doing it. That dish was bad and instead of helping to find a solution we got a discussion. The waiter then went to talk to the chef. He was gone for some time and I heard loud and angry voices from the kitchen. The waiter came back and told me they cook for German tastebuds and I should have told them beforehand that I want it spicy (this is not a spicy dish btw). They can take my dish back to the kitchen and spice it up. Sorry, I am not going to eat something from a cook that is apparently angry with me. You know why. I told him no and that I am done eating. When he brought the bill the Aloo Chole was on there. I refused to pay for it which caused another carfuffle and a telephone call with the owner. Seriously, the production cost of a simple chickpea and potato dish is no more than 3 Euros. The restaurant was completely empty. Why this customer unfriendly attitude? I...

The food is simply great, the spices are abundant and of extremely high quality, I ordered their extremely spicy chicken and after crying due to the spices and having my mouth go completely numb I finally suffer no more from pepper and pepper related food. The staff is very professional. A dinner for 2 with appetizer and a main course each costed us around 60 euro, a fair price considering the quality. Although I would suggest not ordering water since it's 6 euros per bottle, not their fault, everywhere in Berlin bottle water costs a lot. All in all, I would gladly destroy my mouth...
Read moreIt was more like an Indian restaurant than Calcutta. As I'm originally from Calcutta I was expecting some authentic Bengali food, but, it had Indian cuisines...which is not specific to Calcutta.
But, overall, I do not have complaints. The decoration were great, they represent old Bengali culture. There are Bengali staffs and waiters who speak fluent German. The food is of course delicious, (no matter if it's Indian or bengalish 😁).
They also have a wide range of drinks (alcohols, juices, joghurt drinks, etc). They have sitting places both outside and inside. It was a friendly ambience with old Indian music playing in the background. The quantity of food is too much, it's gonna make your tummy...
