Restaurant Pizzeria Ali Baba — Restaurant in Berlin

I went in the first time not sure what it would be like as I'm from UK so not a local but was very pleasantly surprised, when I went in the place was absolutely packed to the rafters, in fact I recall on the first visit that I was asked if I wanted to wait for a table or take a seat at a table now with others already eating. (I was alone) When a place is so full people have to share tables (not everybody's idea of fun I know) it is a sign of an establishment with a great local reputation! When I saw the menu I saw why, It was very very cheap I thought it would be cheap & cheerful grub but no it was Excellent food and despite the place being overcrowded it arrived in good time. The staff were very helpful and were working extremely hard, giving good service to so many people is not easy. it was so good that I went back again another evening despite my trip only being 4 days! The only very little thing that made it a bit tricky for me was that the menu was not translated and staff did not speak English but that is my issue not theirs and to be fair it is not in Alexanderplatz so you don't expect them to have to cater for foreign speakers anyway! It was -15 outside when I went so to be so full when everywhere else is deserted shows how good it is, People tend to stay in out of the cold in that weather but lots were prepared to brave it...

We are vegans and were looking for a place to eat when we found this place. We sat down waiting for a long time to be served, finishing a couple of beers from a grocery store and looking at the menu to buy two beers and vegan pizza. The waitress, who appeared overworked, frazzled, and completely stressed out began yelling at us in a disrespectful manner, raging on about the beers we were finishing. She could have politely said to put them in the trash can. Instead, she made a big deal, almost causing a scene while we sat outside waiting for someone to take our order. Perhaps she is a racist who doesn’t like black or brown people, perhaps she was just having a bad day, perhaps she’s an overworked miserable human being taking it out on fellow human beings. Either way, the place looked dirty, unsanitary, with long waits and rude, obnoxious staff. Advise...

The food was mid. Grocery store's frozen pizzas are much better than whatever they sell as pizza. The drinks were horrible. It's 28° today and the cola they gave us was warm and flat, not frizzy AT ALL. Might as well serve us warm sugar water because that's what it tasted like. The staff specially the lady, were horrible. I get it's warm and the work is exhausting but you're a grown woman, not a child. Either do your job right or get a new job, no need to disrespect the costumers and make a scene. I'll never ever go back here I suggest others to not waste their money here either. Eating grocery store's frozen pizza at home is much better and less stressful and you actually get frizzy cold cola. Also I wanted to add that the bread they gave us was hard as a rock.
