Landed up here on a Saturday evening (18.03.23) after an event we planned to attend, got cancelled. Ordered the following with a lot of expectation and enthusiasm: 2 cups of tea (we were informed it is "masala Chai". Later understood that "masala" is silent here) Rava Dosa Medu Wada Schezwan Fried Rice and Paneer Chilli
I must say: It was a Sad Saturday. All of the above dishes were passable. Paneer Chilli being the hall of Fame of the disasters. We were reminded of the "Non-Dust" eraser we used to carry during our school times in India. Utter RUBBER to chew.
Chai, Medu Wada , Schezwan Fried Rice : none of them tasted even close to "average". The Dosa was the only saving grace I believe.
Being a Bombay Tamilian, it was painful to pay such an exorbitant amount for such Medu Wadas, Dosa and Rubber AKA Paneer.
Yeah, the dishes in the photo look good. That's what I guess it has now come to. "Instagram-friendly" food. What about the taste?
There were other issues, but I am not even mentioning them here. Because the level of the dishes prepared itself is something to be addressed first. Rest all can be managed.
People who plan to go out to eat (especially Indians, here in Düsseldorf/Germany), let me give you an unsolicited pro tip (I can say this because I have seen this pattern in restaurants) : If the Indian restaurant is focussing more on marketing and publicity, immediately understand that there are high chances it will lack the taste you expect. Dosa.com is one such restaurant added to the list. Take a U-turn and go home. Save your money. Rather, go to Lidl/Rewe and buy the ingredients & enjoy cooking the dishes at home.
I know this is not ethical, but it's just my recommendation: If you really want to try good South Indian food, try "Chennai Chef" in Cologne / "Bhojans"...
Read moreI had the opportunity to try three different dosas at the restaurant: jini Dosa, Rava Dosa, and Garlic Masala Dosa. Each dosa was packed with flavors and left a delightful taste in my mouth. The jini Dosa had a perfect balance of spices, while the Rava Dosa had a unique crispy texture that added an extra layer of enjoyment. The Garlic Masala Dosa was a true standout with its aromatic garlic-infused filling.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasing, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service, displaying attentiveness and friendliness throughout my dining experience.
One of the notable aspects of the restaurant was its wide range of dosa varieties. From classic options to innovative creations, there was something to suit every taste preference. It was refreshing to see a mix of traditional dosas alongside unique combinations that showcased the chef's creativity.
The chutney and sambar served with the dosas were exceptional. The chutney had a burst of flavors, perfectly complementing the dosas. The sambar was rich and aromatic, enhancing the overall taste experience. It was evident that both the chutney and sambar were made with fresh ingredients, adding to their deliciousness.
Considering the portion sizes, taste, and overall dining experience, the prices at the restaurant offered good value for money. I left feeling satisfied with both the quality of the food and the affordability of the menu.
Overall, my experience at the dosa restaurant was delightful. The flavorful dosas, pleasant ambiance, attentive service, and tasty accompaniments made it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying and enjoyable...
Read moreOn a rainy day having ‘one by two’ Manchow soup sounds like something in Mumbai, getting this experience in Düsseldorf with same taste of soup was amazing! We also had fried rice and manchurian takeaway which was equally yum in taste! Thank you to the team for bringing and sharing this ‘Indochinese’ food in Germany.
I’m from South of India and I had Idli and Onion Rava Dosa here as well. I would be biased to say that I have had better ones but I didn’t mind what I was eating there. Short term cravings for idli-dosa can be managed (it is certainly NOT comparable to traditional authentic south indian food).
But the Indian street style Chinese food, is a MUST HAVE at Dosa.com!
Good ambience and friendly service by the lady as well. No one was in the restaurant at the time we went coz it was a weekday and heavy rains.
Located very close to D-Derendorf...
