riva restaurant & bar — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

We wanted to stop by at riva for some drinks after dinner. From distance the atmosphere on the roofed terrace looked nice and decided to give it a try. But we rather wanted to sit fully inside. Inside it was super empty except for 2 couples and 6 bored looking waiters standing by the bar. Which is of course no problem but when we took a seat a waitress approached us immediately and asked what we wanted without greeting or anything. I asked for the drinks menue. When I received the menue the waitress came back again after 10 seconds and we had no chance yet to go through the menue. She asked again what we wanted even after it was obvious that we were still looking. After I decided for a martini (since there was nothing special on the menue except for standard drinks ) I handed over the menue to my friend for him to look because we only received one menue. The waitress approached again and asked in a really unfriendly way if we were going to decide on drinks before they actually close. I was surprised about her tone and impatience as we hardly were sitting there for more than 5 minutes. I asked if they were about to close (which could have explained the situation), the waitress said not now but in a couple of hours and asked again what we want. Needless to say we left without ordering anything.

So in summary if you are looking for a fake crowd and rude service riva is the place to be! There are about a 1000 better options in the harbour area...

The worst experience ever, i went to have dinner alone and they completely ignored my table, i had to ask for menu 2 times for it to come. The food was awful zero taste and expensive for nothing, i asked for drink menu and the waiter answerd me in a very rude way like why do you need it tell me what you want , i said i want to see the menu, then he brought it and throw it on my table, and then gone again for sometime, they made me feel awful just because i was having dinner alone. I understand the clientele is a bit diff but in means this mean to treat me like this, especially im also paying money. I noticed how the waiters chat and laugh and waste time instead of making sure everytable is served, the couple sitting next to me had to also ask many times to be served , the waiter keeps running and being rude and very far from elegant, never going back there and never recommending it to anyone. The waiter was also taking to me in Italian, its not even german or english . The only highlight is the guy at the door, he was kind and good...

Stepped out of the rain had tables right next to me nobody waiting and there is an arrogant semi gray haired man that seems he’s the wrong guy to give any sense of power to because he turned away good money for ego on the patio. They were full was his reason but it clearly wasn’t true, and he seemed pretty adamant against Americans. As displayed when I pointed out, there was plenty of room. Trying to move past his arrogance, and he physically blocked me from looking for a barstool.
