TIO Rustica — Restaurant in Erlangen

I’ve been to Tio’s many times even though their pizza is just okay. Eventually, I decided not to go again, but we had a work party two weeks ago and ordered from there, and I finally found a pizza that was superb! In fact, the Pizza Teatro was so yummy, I went again last week with a friend, but unfortunately, I was again disappointed. The pizza didn’t taste great and I realized it had almost no cheese on it. When I lifted the toppings, I could literally count the individual pieces of shredded cheese on the pizza. I politely complained and the waitress - who was sweet as sugar and totally wonderful - kindly offered to throw a little more cheese on and put it back in the oven a little longer. But a few moments later, a very aggressive waiter explained that for hygiene reasons, they could not take my partially-eaten pizza back to the kitchen. This is very understandable, but the pizza really wasn’t good so I opted to wait for them to make another. I was told it would take 20 minutes. He rather rudely suggested twice that I order extra cheese next time. I told him I shouldn’t have to pay extra for there to be a normal amount of cheese on my pizza. He argued with me that the Teatro has many toppings so sometimes they reduce one or two toppings so it isn’t too much. But let’s be clear: the cheese is not a topping! A pizza consists of dough, sauce, and cheese, everything “on top” of that is a “topping”. The cheese is not something to be reduced. Not ever. But he continued to argue his point and tell me to order extra cheese next time. No apology whatsoever was offered except by the very kind waitress. I waited almost 40 minutes for my new pizza and then it came with so much cheese it was almost un-chewable. Pizza is my favorite food and very rarely disappoints. I always say “even the worst pizza is still pretty good.” It has to be really bad for me to complain, but the way I was treated was unacceptable. There will be no reason for me to order extra cheese next time because there will never be...

Poorest and slowest service I have ever witnessed ... wanted to spend a relaxed dinner with my girlfriend there and we had high expections due to the reviews... All we got was extra long waiting times, hasty and stressed out waiters and mediocre food. All in all we spent two and a half hours there. starting off with 10 minutes waiting, even with a reservation, then we ordered our meals right away, my pasta arrived about 10 MINUTES after ordering, but my girlfriends Pizza took about 90 MINUTES to finally arrive, it then was partly burnt, just warm enough so you wouldnt call it cold and soaked it oil. After I helped her finishing off the Pizza we asked for the bill and had to wait another 20 MINUTES. A very disappointing evening to say the least .. Wont come back .. No...

The good: The pizza and beer I tried were very tasty, and the prices are adequate. No reason to complain here, this is all in good order and deserves a recommendation in this aera. Would like to try the cocktails next time. The bad: It's a well known place with few competitors in the neighbourhood. Subsequently it's very crowded at the usual dinner times. In the first floor it tends to be noisy and one is forced to talk with a very loud voice. The unnecessary: It seems like sometimes staff loses track of who is responsible to perform which task for which table. We had to order beverages multiple times as the order got...
