I have been more than 10 times here and always it was excellent. My favorite sushi restaurant. Long review:
Recently I spend entire salary in sushi restaurants and this is the result: 1 HiroSakao - fancy 2 Sen - relaxed 3 Gingo - cheaper Long:
Gingo is a nice cozy place with very helpful service. Sushi are inexpensive and tasty but simple. Main attraction is the running bar “all you can eat”.
Sen: nice and cozy. Relaxed atmosphere of a tapas bar. Tasty, but simpler than HiroSakao. Good choice if you like much sauce or slightly fatter sushi. Drinks are sweet. Swimming boats with dishes are interesting.
HiroSakao: with price slightly higher than Sen it is a fancy restaurant with fine and most sophisticated sushi. Less fat and sauce, more ingredients. Less sugar in drinks. Usually very busy, reservation is really necessary. They give tables only for one and a half hour. Tips: you should try cold original Japan sake and fruit drinks made here. Make a reservation. Be careful with ice cream, it...
Read moreI went there with my wife on her birthday. There were so many entrences so I just walked in. One of the waiter was so rude that he just screamed asking to go to the entrance and enter with permission. I could understand if the restaurant was full but it was empty inside. Then we were given a table close to the toilet and it was smelling bad. Then when our food after 45 min there was a big BIG fly in the ginger and I immediately sent it back also the fish used looked like it was sitting out for some time and not fresh at all. We get the food again and it was the same sushi from the previous plate. It was a horrible experience and we decided that day we wouldn't go back there. That being said the same restaurant in Forchheim is a thousand times better, the staff really friendly and fresh food. I'm just going to advise my friends and family never to go to the Erlangen Hiro Sakao. Horrible...
Read moreIf it weren't for the fact that the tuna was relatively fresh, I would have rated this place a one. Service was beyond laughable. At one point, the server was shouting at me to order by number. I was under the impression that this is not an imbiss and that she knows the names of the menu items. After nearly 40 minutes, the food finally arrived at the table. The presentation was laughable and hardly of any quality. It seems the only thing that presents well at this restaurant are cooked items. This is fairly odd for a sushi restaurant. Had the food been better, I could have overlooked the laughable service. However, the food was mediocre and the service terrible. Very understaffed at both the service and sushi line. My 10 percent tip was merely a formality as I assure you we...
