I recently visited Hans im Gluk with my girlfriend, and I must say it was an extremely disappointing dining experience. From the moment we entered the restaurant, things went downhill.
We ordered two menus with specific requests for our burgers: one "avocado burger" and one "FEURIGER" burger. To our surprise, the waitress brought us two "FEURIGER" burgers. When we politely pointed out the mistake, she insisted that we had ordered two identical burgers. This despite the fact that she correctly understood our drink orders and thought differently when it came to the burgers.
What made matters worse was the waitress's rude and dismissive attitude. She refused to take back the incorrect order and insisted on keeping the fries that came with it, even though we couldn't enjoy our meals together. To add to the frustration, when we asked for tissues, they were nowhere to be found, and the waitress informed us that the manager was too busy to address our concerns.
To top it all off, when we first sat down, we noticed drinks from previous customers left on our table. We had to request that these be cleared away, which was quite off-putting.
Overall, this was a miserable dining experience. We left the restaurant feeling unheard and treated unfairly. It's a shame because I've had positive experiences here in the past. However, after this visit, I have no intention of returning to Hans im Gluk, and I would strongly advise others to consider their options before dining here.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their service to prevent others from having similar experiences...
Read moreHad this big burger craving, when I had just moved to Essen and this place came highly recommended from a friend of mine. I've been here only twice, and 've never found this place empty. Had to wait for a long time to secure a place for two near to some other strange couple. The ambience was good though. The staff seemed 'überfordert' coz of the huge load of customers, and you need to get used to the way you order, choosing the bread etc, which we didn't know of course. The waitress had the 'Whaaat... You don't know all these' attitude. (Sorry, I'm new, forgive me for not having visited your joint for my whole life!!), and they weren't patient at all. I found a well mannered group of young boys and girls who were eating the burgers with a fork and knife, all patti and bread and onion rings separated. (Come on... We at least needn't be so formal in a burger joint.. You are supposed to have your hands all messed up!!) At last the burger arrived. Was expecting something more juicy and lecker, for the couple of euros you shell out more than any other burger joint. It was kind of dry, the bread was kind of hard, and to avoid any other further embarassment, I ate it with a fork and spoon!! One star for the ambience, one star for the burger patty, they had somehow...
Read moreThe worst experience we ever had. (waited 105 minutes to be served with burger and French fries) Unbelievable, still the young generation is favouring discrimination. Firstly the waitresses were avoiding to take order. After waiting for 20 minutes we called the waitress, then she took the order. After ordering they took 25 minutes to serve drinks. Then we waited for the food and it was 45 minutes since we ordered but still they didn't serve us. Other people who came after us were served and they were done. But, we were just waiting . When we asked the waitresses for the food she replied that the order was missed they will make it then. We were served with the food after waiting for 65 minutes. All other customers were served with the food in just short waiting time, only except us. In total we waited 105 minutes to be served with burger and French fries, isn't it insane....
