My Dad Made — Restaurant in Essen

FOOD & DRINKS If you look closely at the menu, the selection of real classic Vietnamese items is very limited and unfortunately they don't offer any authentic Vietnamese dessert. I ordered Bún chả which in its basic form is grilled pork with rice noodles and herbs. The way they arranged the dish was really nice. Looks modern, clean and pretty. The additions of the veggies is weird for someone with Vietnamese origin. To me it would have been more authentic and true if they just served grill meat (over charcoal), tons of herbs and rice noodles. The stir fried veggies gave it that western touch. In my opinion the chả was a bit dry and did not start any kind of flavor explosions. Everything was okay and good if you just want a decent meal.

SERVICE The staff was nice and friendly. Especially the girls. They were quick in reacting to our wishes and just did a good job.

ATMOSPHERE I think this is what their regular customers want and why they like this place. A modern and fresh look. Everything looks clean and cozy.

A place for food you'd love to eat. They have many different flavors and combinations. As an avid Pho lover, I have to say well done. Combination of spices was just right.

It's hard to have a restaurant that is modern with a classical feel. My Dad Made does it though. It seems hip and modern with traditional seating and classical decorations of a cool restaurant.

Service is very quick and attentive. Food was good. Nice place.

Ich war bereits zum dritten Mal dort, es gibt positive und negative Punkte, die jedoch in Ihrer Wertung unterschiedlich einzustufen sind. Das Restaurant liegt in einem alten Wohnkomplex direkt an der Grenze der Rü kurz hinter Bredeney. Parkplatz hier natürlich Glückssache. Das Ambiente ist schlicht, fast puristisch, halt Ethno-Food-Trend und verlässt sich aufgrund der Zahlungskräftigen Kundschaft in dem Bezirk auf die Freundlichkeit und die Qualität. Die Speisekarte in Holzseiten gehalten passt zum Ort und bietet wenig Auswahl, dafür wird mit viel asiatischer Frische gearbeitet, überhaupt nicht zu vergleichen mit einem Asia-Buffett-All you can eat. Preise im Bereich, nix teures, ab 9Euro gibt es leckeres Essen. Dafür leidet der Service, zwar freundlich aber alle 3 Besuche transusig, Herren WC auf 2qm, modern aber nicht sauber, alle Hygieneartikel leer, keine Seife, kein 1x Handtuch, Desinfektionsspender immer leer. Aber draussen vor der Tür (ernsthaft alle 3 Besuche!!) handeln die Inhaber mit einem Autoverkäufer über den da jedesmal stehenden neuen Porsche-Modell mit rotem Nummerschild. Zufällig? Fazit: Wer asiatisch-vietnamesisch essen möchte frisch und bezahlbar ist hier richtig, lange Wartezeit aufs Essen und unerfahrener Service sowie mangelnde WC-Bereitstellung muss jedoch in Kauf genommen werden. Zudem kostet ein Mittagsgericht 9Euro, ein Aperetif wie z.b. Lillet oder Aperol kosten 7,50€, das steht leider nicht in Relation,sorry.
