I had the pleasure of visiting the Indian restaurant Mera Masala as it had been recommended to me several times by my German colleagues in Frankfurt. I can say with certainty that it was a culinary experience in a class of its own! From the warm welcome to the delicious dishes - everything was just perfect.
Let's start with the beautifully presented Mango Lassi. This refreshing drink was the perfect start to our dinner. The creamy consistency and the sweet mango note with the rose syrup were simply heavenly.
For starters, we tried the Pani Puri as they looked very interesting at the table next to us and all I can say is: Wow! These small, crispy dough balls filled with potatoes with a spicy tamarind sauce and fresh herbs were a real treat. The taste was explosive and we were immediately impressed! Especially recommended on warm summer days.
The highlight of the evening, however, was the Butter Chicken (a typical dish of Indian cuisine, but really nowhere better than here). Tender chicken in a rich, creamy sauce - to die for! The spices were perfectly balanced and gave the dish a wonderful depth. It was served with freshly baked garlic naan, which was ideal for dipping in the sauce.
We finished off with the rasmalai and I can only say that it was the perfect sweet ending. The curd balls in the aromatic milk were light yet incredibly flavorful and beautifully presented - an absolute must for any dessert lover!
Overall, I can only highly recommend eating at Mera Masala. The combination of excellent food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere makes this restaurant a real gem. I am already looking forward to my next visit...
Read moreI don't know why I haven't written about this before but probably because this is my usual place rather than a one off visit.
If you really want to taste authentic and good Indian food in Frankfurt, this is the place you must visit. From appetizers till desserts, nothing will disappoint you but if you need some suggestions anyway then here are some. Try their meat platter which includes chicken, mutton seekh and fish kebabs as well as tandoori chicken. Amongst main course dishes, chicken tikka masala is a no brainer but if you want to try something more authentic Indian, try Chicken Xaguti which is a Goan preparation or Lamb Vindaloo which is a south Indian preparation.
My only criticism would be that many preparations have become milder for my palate but I think it's more to suit wider audience.
We finished off our today's dinner with Gajar Halwa, Ras Malai and Gulab Jamoon because we couldn't decide what to skip and we were properly delighted.
