Stay away! Owner discriminates against people with medical conditions! The owner is out most unprofessional and rudest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant.
My friend and I had a reservation at this restaurant and I was a few minutes earlier there. I decided to go up the stairs and ask if I could already get to the table or if I would have to wait till the party is complete. The restaurant door was open and a table was set up as a desk right at the door. The owner himself was sitting on the right side table without a mask on. So I stepped to the table (the border basically), and right away asked if it was ok for me to be without a mask due to my doctors note? The waitress was polite and she was trying to answer but the owner interfered right away saying "ACTUALLY your note does NOT matter!".(That was his exact words). I was taken back because it was not like I just ran inside the restaurant passed the sign and ignored any of the rules. I straight up brought it up, trying to kind of just ask a simple question, that of if I had to wait outside or could already be seated?
All I wanted to know was how to proceed to be honest, and a simple answer of my question with a friendly note about the fact that they dont accept any doctors note waiving a masks indoors would have just been fine. Instead he stood up from his table and told me that our reservation was now canceled and I could leave, then he put his mask on and set down.
No matter what, it is still against what the law says, but Im not one that wants to be somewhere where I am not accepted and give them my hard earned money, so I would have left regardless. BUT the difference is, the customer friendly way, would have kept the face of his restaurant with a cleaner slate and not put such sour note on top of it all. I know how such owners think. Its just one person, and he has so many others customers that are coming. True, but how often can you do that till this makes it rounds? And people will not come any longer cause they dont want to support someone with that discriminatory mindset??
He took it to a whole different level and its discriminating as it is, but to also bring such disrespectful way while not wearing a mask himself inside the restaurant, is just ridiculous and beyond me.
Think twice if you want to support such behavior with your money!! If he did it to me, he would do it to anyone!...
Read moreVisiting from US, driving there from Aschaffenburg area, and having circled that area for 30-plus mins to park (we were really craving Korean food!), only to find out that this was a "reservation only" restaurant (with 1 hour remaining prior to closing at 11PM), from the person who appeared to be the owner. From the first entrance to a few attempts to try to explain our situation, the message was basically no reservation, no table. There were no indications of that fact in the Google info (it said, 15 min wait typically) nor in any of the 10s of reviews I read before heading out there. Is this really a "reservation only" restaurant?
Granted they were busy. But, with closing time nearing, perhaps a corner table or two chairs at the counter would have opened up in a bit. We were hoping for such a suggestion by the owner, from his heart, even if this was, in fact, a reservation-only restaurant. Rather, he suggested another restaurant before it's too late, after a few "no reservation, no table" comments. His suggestion turned out to be closed this day, or a Saturday, which he later said he didn't know any other ones to suggest. While on the surface, his suggestion for another place seemed helpful, his intonation and facial expressions seemed otherwise...
Most or all of the menu items at this place are what I would call "everyday-food," that is, they are not items for "Su-Ra-Sang" or "King's Table" from historical perspectives. The underlying historical culture of such everyday Korean food is "heart or compassion" -- heart for sharing and heart for others.
The restaurant may have nice ambience. The food may seem traditional Korean and good (I can't comment on the taste as we didn't get a chance to experience it). However, based on my experience (or lack thereof), I doubt that the food and restaurant are build on the authentic, traditional and foundational values and spirit of Korean food!
While we were disappointed, there was one positive consequence. We discovered a very good (authentic, I think) Tibetian restaurant nearby. It's called Tibet Ama Kitchen (Ama means mother) -- hand-made noodle, homemade dumplings, very good flavor with well-balanced taste, reasonable price, good portions, good friendly services, etc.
We shall return to this area in the future. You can guess which restaurant we...
Read moreWe were here yesterday evening at 8, with a reservation (which I would highly recommend, since this place is really popular). Now I have to admit I had take out from here before, so I already knew the food was great but going there, being served beautiful delicious food while sitting very cozily surrounded by the wooden interior just felt amazing. The place looks amazing from the outside already and I just love the wood style. Now regarding food I had Man Du as an entrée which where just exceptionally delicious with a nice combination of bite, crisp and chewiness. For the main course I had the Bibimbap with beef which is an amazing combination of different vegetables, rice and in my case beef that is served with a light soup and I also had the kim chi zzige as a side soup (the menu tells you that this is apparently something a lot of Korean people do, just having a soup alongside your dish, so I of course tried it) which was also delicious with a nice degree of spiciness. You also get an array of pickled vegetables to share among the table which is a nice addition. All in all the service was very good, I sadly didn’t get to taste the espresso, since the machine broke the day before, but nonetheless this was all in all an exceptional experience for all of your senses, the atmosphere was very cozy and beautiful, the food was amazing and I would definitely go there again every time I get the chance.
