5 Senses Coffee — Restaurant in Freiburg im Breisgau

UPDATE REVIEW: Changing my review as I stopped going there due to the crazy price increase (twice!!) that is really no longer justified. And on top of all, after paying already 5.20 EUR for coffee, we are urged to pay the waiter's salary with the new payment card system. If you dont click anything and just put your card it takes more money from you on top of the coffee price 🫥

There are so many cooler Cafes in Freiburg that don't try to push and push customers and see how much they are willing to pay.

Plus, this cafe is located way way outside the center, while cafes in the center are paying so much more rent and charges their customers less than 5 senses does.

OLD REVIEW Excellent service and the vegan cakes are a hit! And the daily soup (lentil)... my gosh... it was delicious!

So we had dirty spice pumpkin latte, cappuccino, the deliciously almond cake (chocolate in disguised 🥸) and vegan indian soup 😋 yum! So happy we found this place.

BTW, we were positively surprised to hear that the cake was even gluten free (it was seriously delish). Nice! The Chai was too sweet. Since it's home made, I would recommend to have it much less sweet so ppl could choose how sweet they like it. Atmosphere is super cozy and...

Really great coffee spot in Vauban! We stopped in here for a small breakfast and coffee and were not disappointed. I was surprised to see a cold brew on the menu so I got that and a Südgold breakfast. My date got a cappuccino and the Herdern Harmony breakfast. The cold brew was great but I wish it were a bit larger (though American-style cold brew in Germany is super rare). And I'm not a huge fan of the "little bit of a lot of things" breakfasts but I will say that all of the ingredients for everything were high quality and it all tasted fantastic. We also enjoyed the vibe, which feels like a local hangout for the Vauban crowd. Definitely a solid place to hang out and chat with some friends or, if you're visiting, to map out your day...

We heard good things about this place and so we stopped by. We wanted to order at the counter but were told to just sit down and that we will he served. We waited a long time and only got asked for our order when the waiter went to another table. After that we sat there for another good 15 minutes until the waiter saw us again and told us that the order is ready in a moment. As you can see on the picture we ordered 2 drinks. They were serving people at the counter all the time while we waited, so it was not the issue that making the coffee took so long but that we were forgotten. In the end we got served a below average latte macciato and a near disgusting dirty pumpkin latte. Would not go here again and would not advice...
