We visited here Friday 25th February 2022, this was our first time here, we had been keeping a close eye on the place as it appeared new, in fact, I understand that Augustiner purchased the building in 2016, and started refurbishment in 2019, before opening in June 2021, it is a fantastic beery addition to the town. For anyone new to Freising, it is actually super easy to find, it is on the main thoroughfare, Ob.Haupstrasse, and is a pastel blue and white in colour.
Despite being relatively early in the evening, before 6pm it was quite busy downstairs with no seating available. We went upstairs and even here all of the tables (60+ in the whole building) were booked, but as we were early we had this table until 8pm. It really is a lovely building very traditional, very roomy, more exposed wood downstairs and possibly a little more spacious upstairs.
I didn't look too much at the beer menu, however, it appears very much in line with other big Augustiner places, so all of their core range. The Helles was served from a wooden barrel tonight and tasted absolutely great.
We also ate here and the Fish and Chips (a British Friday night staple) was very nice. We really liked it here, there was a great atmosphere, staff were great and this place is for me a great new find in Freising.
*Visited again Friday 18th March 2022, after a visit to Weihenstephan. Have to say that for atmosphere this is the place. Fresinger Schnitzel (which is actually a take on a Münchener Schnitzel) was very good. This is likely to be a regular haunt in Freising,...
Read moreWhile I've eaten here before on previous trips and enjoyed it, this time was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant and it was due to an amazingly rude, insulting waiter. At first he told us he didn't have any English menus and we said okay, we'll try to figure it out with google translate. Then when we had a couple of questions he very rudely told us we needed to stick with German standards like schnitzel and the dishes we were asking about weren't for Americans - then he took our German menus and stomped off. We were flabbergasted and promptly left and took our business to another restaurant down the street that was delicious and friendly. I travel to Freising frequently since my company is one of the largest employers in town and I will never go back to this restaurant and will be sure and give this feedback to my colleagues. I love visiting Freising and fortunately there are plenty of good restaurants serving all kinds of food so I don't have to put up with this...
Read moreWe came here after our bags into MUC got delayed by a couple hours, and we wanted to stay in the area of the airport. As a result, I didn't have my coat and it was cold and rainy outside. Our server, Stefan, and the bartender, Lucas, were both the most wonderfully hospitable people I've met in a long time. When my data didn't work to track our bags Stefan gave me his personal hotspot, and they later gave us an umbrella knowing we wouldn't be able to return it, seeing my coatless status and the rain outside. The atmosphere was hopping and lively on a Sunday afternoon, it seemed to mainly be locals, and the food was wonderful. Flavorful, well made, and interesting options. Traditional Bavarian cuisine from what I could tell, but I'm not a good source for that. Just overall a wonderful warm welcome to...
