We ate here on the strength of the other reviews posted here. It was absolutely terrible.
The waiter (owner?) told us when we showed up at 7:00 PM that it would probably take between 30-45 minutes to get our food. We had two small children (7 & 4) with us so we thought it was not desirable, but it was manageable. We agreed and sat down. It took 45 minutes to order, then another hour and 45 minutes to get our food. During this time we had to flag the waiter down several times just to get drinks while we waited. We asked for some bread to tide over the young children; they brought out one piece of store-bought white bread for each of them.
So after all of this, how was the food? Forgettable. Think of the best schweinshaxen you've ever had. Tender, falling off the bone meat with crispy pork crackling, right? This was the opposite on all accounts -- tough meat, fatty skin, not good. The kassspatzel was OK, and the schnitzel was nothing to write home about.
We didn't bother with dessert, since we'd already wasted 2 1/2 hours of our lives in this place. We had to flag down the waiter for our bill, in keeping with the theme of the night. A fitting end to...
Read moreThis is THE place to eat in Garmisch! In fact, it's now one of my favorite places to eat in Germany. My friend had recommended another restaurant close by, but they were packed and the waitress wasn't exactly friendly about the fact we didn't think to make a reservation. So we walked just a couple hundred feet and found this gem. I got the Hirschgulash with Knoedel and a little salad and it was incredible. My fiance had the Schweinefilet with Kroketten and green beans with some bacon mixed in. Also amazing. The price was great as well, and did NOT match the portions. I expected less food from the prices, but saw all the plates going past to others tables and knew all the potions were more than adequate. We happily stuffed ourselves! I gave our compliments to the chef and told our waitress how much we loved everything about our...
Read moreAfter searching for several restaurants in Garmisch-Partenkirchen we stumbled over this cozy little restaurant with a great atmosphere inside, the food being authentic, local, Bayerish, tasty and price that everybody can afford. however it was not only the food, that made the trip worthwhile, they made a special request for my two year old glady, service was in top. it’s not the last time going there when visiting all the way from Denmark and Hong Kong. A place highly recommendable. All I can say thank you for a great evening a special thanks to the waitress who showed overly kindness to my son who had fallen in love with ‘speckled frogs cutlery’ and came running out of the restaurant after we left to give him a full set as he broke out in tears when he had to give back the ones he used. 6 stars from here...
