This hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the local mountains. It is a 3 minute walk to the mountain railway from which you access the cable cars to Zugspitz and Alpspitz and a 1 minute walk to the centre of GP. Perfect location. Our room was fine, good shower and good coffee machine. The breakfast was fine. However there was one significant area of huge disappointment which was the restaurant / evening meal. The main reason we chose this hotel was because the restaurant was Michelin recommended. Well whoever was in the kitchen when Michelin went is not there now. We had hoped to eat there every night but we didn't return after the first meal. We sat at 8pm. We waited over 20 mins for a menu (had to ask for it). We had been sat for over an hour before our starters arrived. My fish and my friends roasted cauliflower thing were both overcooked. My starter fish came with with mash and a wet sauce which looked very unappealimg and which I left . We both ordered fish for our mains. Different fish, again overcooked, with a very sloppy potato puree and a foam that we specifically asked not be included but was. It looked like a plate of baby food and was so off putting to look at. We ate the overcooked fish and the greens and left the rest. By that time we were ready to leave but you are required to order 3 or 4 courses. We reluctantly ordered something with berries as it was fruit (it was 28 degrees C and so hot). It took nearly 30 mins to arrive at a time when there was hardly anyone left in the restaurant. We had had enough waiting after a long day of travelling and we got up to leave at 10pm. The desserts arrived just as we were leaving. The plate was once again liquid white the only solid food visible was some redcurrants poking out. We declined it and went to our rooms hungry. We were so disappointed. Do not be fooled by the pictures of beautiful food on the websites of the hotel and Michelin. Whoever cooked that is not there now. Maybe other options would have been better but in this heatwave we could not eat heavy meat based dishes. We just wanted something light and healthy and decent quality. It's a real shame because the breakfast was OK and the rest of the hotel aspects were fine. If the restaurant had lived up to the promise we would have given it 4 stars. We ate the other nights at the Italian place on the square Bottega Vita Lenta (which does great take away...
Read moreWe spent five nights here as part of a family holiday. We have two young children aged two and five and the staff was always very patient and accommodating with us, which was great and make our stay very pleasurable. We loved the attention to details, the teas, flavoured waters in the SPA, the had cream, deodorant and hair spray in the toilets, the coffee machine and water in the room. The complimentary afternoon teas with cakes and savoury snacks was also a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent offering a good choice of bread, jams (many different kinds of honeys which I loved!), fruits, and also ham, cheese, salmon, eggs etc. If you are a tea lover you won't be disappointed as there are lots of herbal and regular teas to choose from. I am lactose intolerant and they were offering dairy-free alternative. The only thing I would say is that if have a sweet tooth and like cake and biscuits in the morning then you may be a bit disappointed, also there isn't much variety in terms of cereals. There is also a private underground garage. All in all a very pleasant stay. Thank you again to all the staff to make us feel welcome and being so patient...
Read moreWe stayed in the hotel from 26-11-24 for 5 nights. The hotel is in prime location and within walking distance to the train station and the center. As we walked into the hotel we were greeted by the person who was on duty and he took us to see the restaurants and spa. While waiting for the room we went to the coffee shop of the hotel where there is afternoon free warm and cold drinks and cakes. When our room was ready we were amazed from the size: 35 Sqm. Hugh, clean large king size bed, balcony and nice shower room. Upon our arrival we got Garmisch Card that entitle us for free bus ride within the city and discount on many attractions. Dinner time: we booked half board which is 4-5 course meal. Since we don’t eat part of the food that was on the daily menu - the hotel served us with main course from the regular menu. For additional fee.. Breakfast? One of the best. With large variety of anything you can think of. See the photos The Spa has heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, steam room, gym and variety of treatment. We has great time in the Spa.
