A Memorable Experience

A funny side story: after buying some cakes from a nearby shop, we found out it had just closed, so we decided to ask a nearby café if we could enjoy our cakes there—for an additional fee, of course. The waiter we approached was surprisingly offended, giving us a mini-lecture on how rude and inappropriate the request was, even advising us to rethink our life choices! We stayed calm and explained that it was a neutral question, and we meant no offense. Eventually, he acknowledged his overreaction and even brought us plates for our cakes, though he firmly asked us never to make such a request again.

In the end, I tipped him over twice the amount of our coffee and their own cakes. He seemed stunned and initially refused the money, but ultimately accepted it, clearly moved by the gesture.

Actual Review:

Service: Service was slow, and the atmosphere felt a bit uninviting. There seemed to be too many tables for the small number of waiters, creating a rushed and somewhat sad ambiance. A restaurant right next to a tourist information which has somewhat the looks of a piece of art - what we expected when entering the Kurpark Pavillon was therefore a tourist trap with mediocre food.

I can't tell you how surprised we were when we actually got our food - served by a very friendly waitress! The taste was by no means mediocre and it was obvious that a lot of effort and skill went into its preparation - rich tastes, large portions and great decorations. Definitely not what you'd expect when taking a first glance at the Kurpark Pavillon, but that's what you'll get! :)

To be fair, if you're looking at your calories it might not be the first choice, but leaving that out of consideration the Kurpark Pavillon has clearly become one of my new favorites in the Garmisch area and we'll make sure to eat...

We arrived here around 4pm looking for food as we were on a road trip. The service was really slow and took forever to get someone's attention for giving us food menus and taking our order. Once we did order the food came quite fast. I ordered a vegan curry and rice and honestly it tasted quite strange. I ate it because I was starving but it could have been a lot better!
