Nov 2024 UPDATE: Hotel is flagging low ratings for defamation! Original Review: Stayed and posted in Nov 2022. This is a cute little hotel. Walking through the hotel I loved the charm and decor. Our room was cozy and had a balcony overlooking the parking lot. We immediately went out to relax after our day of travel and soon realized we were right above the smoking area outside the lobby. From then on we didn't enjoy the balcony as there was smokers occasionally below us. The beds were hard, but I got used to it and didn't bother us too much. They have two pillow options, even though advertising they have multiple options. They could be refreshed as well as some of their furniture. We were on the top floor directly across from the maid's closet. Every day at 7am they would roll their carts out, clanging glass bottles, talking loudly and parked them right outside our room. This definitely  put a damper on stay in the mornings. The breakfast buffet was nice every morning. We did not upgrade to the tea/cake hour or dinner, but ate at the restaurant a couple times. It is a set menu every night and the food was good. Attempted to have drinks in the bar, but they did not staff it with a bartender. They provide a train/bus pass at check in which is a nice perk. Unfortunately  the train was closed for maintenance 4 out of the 5 days we were there. I get they don't want to advertise we were booking during off season on their site, but it would have been nice to know when checking in and talking to multiple staff about activities and how best to get there. We would have planned our activities differently.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are nice. I personally loved the antique decor and the paintings on the walls. We enjoyed the breakfast. The view was beautiful! Dinner was already booked for the entire weekend when we arrived on Friday night, so I can’t attest to that, but the staff recommended a lovely restaurant in walking distance. Our stay included public transit passes for the duration of our stay which came in handy. I was able to purchase my ticket to visit the Zugspitze at the front desk. I had a very therapeutic massage while my family went skiing. We enjoyed the pool area and sauna. The pool is small, but the staff informed me of that when I booked. Everyone we encountered in the pool/sauna area was clothed. Our small dog was able to join us for this trip as well. We would highly recommend this place and stay again. I hope your stay is as nice ours.

Darling little hotel. Family-owned and accomodating, little chocolates were left for us as well as a complimentary mineral water. It's definitely an older building, but I absolutely love a bit of charm. Think funky wall art and plaid carpet, very traditional. Beds were so comfortable compared to the city accomodations we had previously, my back felt 10x better after a night here. Walking distance from a few small restaurants - not a lot here, but it's so nice and quiet, it's a good place to get away from city noise. Great view of the mountains. They have a restaurant, but we opted not to eat there because we didn't want to eat veal 2 days in a row! The menu looked great regardless. The hotel is just a short drive from Eibsee and the cable cars, as well as nice hiking areas. Only marking service as a 4 because it was good, just limited since we were only there one night.

We stayed 2 nights at the Romantic. We are very happy we stayed, and it is a gorgeous little property hidden in Grainau. It feels authentic and the view from the main lobby deck is stunning as you can see the highest mountain in Germany. Quite literally, we said it was the best breakfast we had ever had. The food was so fresh and delicious, and the view took it over the top. We had a basic room for 2 with a balcony. It is true, as I've seen in other reviews, that the rooms are very small. If you are spending most of your time exploring the area, this won't matter much, because the bed and all inside is well done and comfy. There is no aircon, so in the summer months this can be a snag! We had to keep the door open which meant some light came in so we didn't have the blackout effect we would have had if it was closed. It did get kind of stuffy. I'm sure in the winter and the heater is going its nice, but for summer that was not the best! Also another thing to point out is that the walls are very thin. Our next door neighbors were quite loud and we could hear them the entire time till they decided to go to bed haha. I give this an excellent rating because I believe in comparison with other hotels I saw in the area that Romantik is the best and you'll have these problems at all other properties! I would stay here again - despite...
