1407 Breakfast Club - Coffee & Matcha Place - Work Space — Restaurant in Hamburg

During my recent visit to The Breakfast Club, where I planned to work for the morning, the experience was unfortunately less welcoming than anticipated. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the owner who, without a smile, quickly pointed out that they do not accept card payments, referencing a nearby sign.

For a café that seems modern and aimed at a younger, tech-savvy crowd, the absence of card payment facilities is a notable drawback. In 2024, embracing digital payment methods is crucial not only for customer convenience but also for operational transparency.

Moreover, the importance of a warm greeting cannot be overstated, especially when the setting suggests a place where one might settle in for a few hours of work. Such small gestures significantly contribute to a pleasant ambiance and overall customer satisfaction.

While the venue has the potential to be a great spot for both casual and work-related visits, I find it difficult to recommend it at this stage due to these shortcomings in service...

This Café is amazing! Perfect Place to work or to chill with friends. I went here with my friends and we had such a great time. We had the 1407 egg drop, the yogurt bowls and some of those crepe cakes. The egg drop is pretty big and it was full of flavor. I was surprisingly really full after having that. The staff there are the sweetest. She was super friendly and calm while taking our order even though my friend really took her time choosing her food. Everything just looked too nice to have. Interior here is welcoming and cozy. What I love the most was the presentation of the food and the drinks, because it’s perfect to post on Instagram. The latte art there is just sooo cute. Größte Enttäuschung vorweg: Haar im Essen und unpassende Reaktion darauf.

Wir haben das Lokal aufgrund der von Außen sichtbaren Kinderspielecke mit unserer 15 Monate alten Tochter aufgesucht und wurden leider sehr schnell (negativ) überrascht. Der Kinderbereich wirkte ziemlich schmuddelig, überall lagen zertretene Kekse und Krümel, alles wirkte etwas in Mitleidenschaft gezogen. Etwas schade, wenn man bedenkt, dass der Laden nicht voll gewesen ist und man zwischendurch zumindest hätte kehren können. Grundsätzlich also kein guter Eindruck. Man hätte jedoch darüber hinwegsehen können, wenn das Essen und der anschließende Service uns nicht viel mehr enttäuscht hätten.

Die pochierten Eier waren leider sehr wässrig und das größte NO-GO: ein HAAR im Avocado Brot! Als ich das Haar entdeckte, verging mir jeglicher Appetit!

Leider kam während des gesamten Aufenthaltes keiner an den Tisch, sodass wir mit dem entsprechenden Teller zum Bezahlen an die Kasse gingen. Als ich die Situation schilderte, war die Reaktion zwar recht freundlich, aber nicht wie ich sie in der Gastro erwarten würde. Es kam eine halbherzige Entschuldigung; die Aussage, dass man es weiterleiten würde, und die Info, dass man mir einen Rabatt einräumt. Auf der Rechnung sah ich dann den besagten Rabatt… 3,50€. 3,50€ als Entschädigung für ein Haar im Essen und wässrige pochierte Eier grenzt für mich an einen schlechten Scherz. Tut mir Leid, aber das hinterlässt wirklich keinen guten Eindruck. Eine zweite Chance oder eine Empfehlung wird es so...
