Authentikka Winterhude — Restaurant in Hamburg

We were 6 people, ordering food on a late Sunday afternoon. We have always been holding Authentika a cut above rest of Indian restaurants in Hamburg. Seems the quality has been now on a decline, especially on Winterhude branch. All of our dishes were not well prepared as those should be. Fried okra were handful and barely crispy, a total ripoff, samosa chat was bland, they need to learn from Badshah on how to do it right. Homemade ginger ale was plain tasteless. We also ordered dhokla which was too little, half cooked and hard paneer tikka masala, an absolutely non Indian chicken tandoori. A total disaster of a lunch, wasted money and time, and this was followed up with a perfect climax. This place is unique, as they will kick you out if you are not done eating your food within 2 hours. And they will still make sure that those items are added on the bill. We were made to leave after eating only these starters because apparently the restaurant said they cannot serve the main dishes we have ordered because 2 hour are coming to a close. Food was fantastic as always at Authetika, so the chef he/she is doing an absolutely outstanding job.

However it's the mannerism of the boss/manager/lead that is what upset me and resulted here in a low rating.

We were early (6pm) and had no reservation but the place was empty. We were given a table and told we can stay for 1.5hrs as they had reservations later. Fine.

We had our meal and after 1hr ordered our final drinks and asked for the bill. When the bill came we paid with the waitress right away and had expected to finish our drinks. However the manager came over and told us people are waiting for the table and pointed to two folks at the bar who needed our table. That was pressure on us already as we wer being pointed out now and stared at by other customers, then when I said we haven't finished our drinks he said "I told you you couldn't have the table for long". We were told 1.5hrs and it had been only 1 hr. I feel insulted. And similar to a rating I gave recently to the other authentica in Schanze, we are again being treated like cattle.

Food always good, but the managers' rudeness and thoughtlessness for his customers are what deserves a...

It's a pity to see a restaurant with a promising menu serving average quality food. The dhokla had a very hard base, that would not even work a spoon, the quantity is just one idli sized dhokla. Price performance ratio is out the door at this moment. Aloo tikki burger is super bland and dry, the burger did not have any sauce. Chicken tandoori was dry. Paneer tikka was tasty but some of the paneer pieces were very hard, so there was no consistency in the quality of the dish. We had reserved a table for 6, well in advance. We started with a lot of appetizers and drinks. Then we ordered main course, 10 minutes later the person managing there said they can not serve us anymore food because we have only 10 more minutes left from the total 2 hour duration of table reservation. They ruined our whole experience and sent us back hungry.
