Boulevard Hotel Hamburg — Hotel in Hamburg

Positives: Location was okay, right at the city centre, the girl at the reception was very professional and well manered. ||Negatives: my sheets were dirty, my pillows were dirty and generally eveyrthing felt dusty. No water in the room. I asked for a double bed, instead they were 2 single beds when at night would seperate and at times I woulf fall off in the middle of them. The room was also facing the street and due to the lack of airconditioning I had to keep them open in order to keep cool but then I couldn't sleep through all the noise coming from the street.||Breakfast non existent and really poor. 2 pcs of bread with 4 pcs of ham and cheese dropped into soggy lettuce leaves. My vegeterian colleague had nothing to eat except those pocket vegan butter and bread. 1 pc of croissant and egg for each of the guest, thankfully when asked the kind receptionist which I guess is also the cook to have some more croissants she baked us. The breakfast area is in the basement with limited WiFi. ||If not for the receptionist would give 1 star, yet I would...

Coming as a tourist to my hometown Hamburg, I was looking for an affordable, quiet hotel in one of the nicer, central areas, not downtown (where everything is dead on weekends), not in the red light district, and definitely not near the airport or somewhere else in the boondocks.||I wanted to walk from our hotel through pretty, tree lined streets to interesting shops and good restaurants, in a lively urban area. In other words, our hotel had to be in one of the fashionable quarters around the Alster lake.||The small Boulevard Hotel was just what we were looking for, with just a 5-minute walk down to the beautiful Alster park, and up to the vibrant (half posh, half student) quarters around Gertigstrasse and Poelchaukamp with numerous shops, pubs, and small restaurants.||The hotel itself offers truly baroque hospitality. The friendliness of the staff, the cornucopia of a breakfast buffet - and the voluptuous furniture. ||We also appreciated the free parking in front of the hotel (no small thing in this area!) and the free internet access...

Der völlig zutreffenden Beschreibung von Indyman300 bleibt kaum was hinzuzufügen. Sie ist ausgezeichnet. ||Einen kurzen Abriss meines Wochend-Aufenthaltes möchte ich aber doch geben. ||Der Empfang war spät am Abend höflich und knapp. Keine vielen Worte, kein WLAN-Schlüssel oder ähnliches. Die gewünschten Getränke seien „aus“ und müssen erst eingekauft werden. Na gut. ||Einen großen Schreck bekam ich beim betreten des Straßen-seitig gelegenen Zimmers. Das Bett wirkte dich sehr in die Nische gequetscht und beim Probeliegen bestätigte sich meine Befürchtung - ein gerades liegen ist nicht möglich. Bei knappen 200cm Körpergröße der Worst-Case. Die Chefin erzählte mir, dass sie doch nicht darauf hinweisen könne, weil dann niemand der so lang gewachsen ist, dort übernachten würde. Hm. Dann nimmt man eben die unausgeschlafenen und verspannten Gäste in Kauf. ||Das WC ist für Menschen über 120cm Körpergröße nicht zu benutzen. Das Bild spricht Bände. ||Auf den ersten Blick wirkte das Zimmer sauber; auf den zweiten leider nicht. Ob Trafos in Feuchträumen so gut aufgehoben sind, wage ich vorsichtig zu bezweifeln. Und dass Staub isolierend wirkt, ebenso. ||Der TV-Empfang ist räudig. Das fällt bei einem ziemlich überproportionierten 50“-Bildschirm wirklich unangenehm auf. ||Den WLAN-Schlüssel habe ich zwar bekommen, konnte das Netz aber leider aufgrund der miesen Leistung nicht nutzen. Hier sei die Telekom schuld. Die Lichter am Router blinken ja alle, also funktioniert es. ||Zum meinen Eindrücken beim Frühstück möchte ich auf Indyman300‘s Beschreibung verweisen. Die Sitzmöglichkeiten sind so eng beieinander, dass an entspannte Nahrubgsaufnahme kaum zu denken ist. Den Flair aus überfrachteter Deko (von der man denkt, sie würde witzig wirken sollen bis man merkt, dass die Hausherren es ernst meinen und die Plastikblumen und Riesen-Bilder als besonders gelungene Merkmale bezeichnen) und grellem Licht muss man mögen oder man wird davon verschreckt. ||Wenn man dann in die Innenstadt fahren möchte, ist man entweder auf eine Navi-App oder Karte angewiesen. Das Personal ist zwar bemüht, aber entweder nicht ortskundig oder nicht verständig. ||Schade. Ich habe mich sehr gefreut, wieder im Zug zu sitzen.
