Butterbrot Café-Bistro — Restaurant in Hamburg

Butterbrot Café-Bistro has become my daily sanctuary here in Hamburg while I attend German language school nearby. As a vegan, it’s not always easy to find places that feel welcoming and can accommodate you with a smile—but this place gets it just right.

They don’t have a dedicated vegan menu, but the amazing staff (with help from the talented Chef Demo) created the perfect avocado toast for me—fresh, beautifully presented, and now part of my morning ritual.

What truly sets this café apart, though, is the people. Huge thanks to Mira and Sofia for always greeting me with warmth and making my mornings brighter. And an extra special shout-out to Sofia, who took time to help me with my conversational German while I was working on homework. It made a real difference and meant a lot.

Honestly… I probably should have asked Sofia for her number instead of Mira’s 😜 not for dating, but because I really need someone to practise German with!

Thank you all for making this café more than just a café—it’s become part of my language journey and my daily joy.

We discovered it quite spontaneously while strolling by. Upon entering, we were greeted very warmly and friendly, and we were allowed to choose our own seat. The very friendly and attentive staff immediately pointed out that the breakfast menu is available all day. It's a very well-run bistro with a very unusual but good name. There's a very extensive selection of different dishes. There are also many Eastern European specialties on the menu. It's also noticeable that this selection is very popular with guests. The price-performance ratio is very good. The dishes and breakfast are very extensive and impress with their good and varied selection.
