Gretchens Villa — Restaurant in Hamburg

I was today with some friends for brunch. We booked a table for 3 and they put in front of the door with a continuous opening and closing of it because of the outdoor service. I asked to switch table as i was cold and the waiter told me it was not possible since the other Empty table was for 4 people. I wanted something with smoked salmon so I asked what they have with salmon and the waitress told me it was too late for salmon and I could not order it anymore so they only had sandwiches. I had to order a sandwich and it came with ham and marmalade it was not really yummy. I also ordered a mango juice a home made one but they bright me a mango schorle so I asked for a change, they brought me average mango juice and I had to pay it 4 euros. Plus banana bread arrived cold and didn’t taste so fresh. This place is nice and cozy but they should improve service and make menu more flexible. I will not go...

It took a while to get seated, we were actually contemplating leaving. Then more time passed to receive the menus and place our orders.

We had two different salads, I took ‘Gretchen im veganen Salatwunderland’, which is composed of mixed salad leaves, rucola, seasonal raw veggies, grilled veggies, smoked tofu, roasted sunflower seeds and home-made mustard-balsamico dressing.

It comes with warm pieces of ‘Fladenbrot’ (a turkish, slightly fluffy bread). The portion was huge and tasted very fresh and good. We also had the ‘Zickiges Gretchen’, mixed salad with warm goat cheese, honey, rosmary, roasted seeds and home-made raspberry dressing.

I was a bit puzzled at the name for my salad as I think, originally, a salad is always vegan, right?! Just a thought. . .

We went to Gretchen’s Villa for a cozy brunch with my husband and a few friends, and it turned out to be such a delightful choice. I had the Früchte waffle, which was fresh and full of flavor. We also tried the Tomate-Mozzarella Panini and Gretchen’s Strammer Start — one with chicken and one without — and both versions were equally delicious. Our drinks — iced latte macchiato, chai latte, and cappuccino — were spot on and paired perfectly with the food. The vibe was warm and relaxed, making it a great place to unwind and catch up. Would...
