I was recently at your café and paid €3.90 for a cappuccino. When I asked to take it to go, you charged an additional €0.30 for the disposable cup – even though takeaway products in Germany are taxed at the reduced VAT rate of 7%, compared to the 19% applied when consumed on the premises. So you’re already benefiting from the lower tax rate, and on top of that, you’re charging extra for the cup. That has nothing to do with environmental protection – it simply looks like a way to increase profit.
On top of that, your payment system prompted me to leave a tip – and you even explicitly pointed it out, encouraging me to tip you. Honestly, that’s inappropriate. You’re not restaurant staff offering table service who might reasonably earn a tip. You make a coffee and hand it over the counter – nothing more. I don’t tip the cashier at the supermarket either.
I’ll just go back to the lovely little kiosk/bakery two doors down. They serve a great cappuccino from a proper machine, in a takeaway cup, for a fair €2.00 – and they do it with a smile, no cup fee, no...
Read moreWhat a treat to get to drink coffee at this place. The ambience both inside and out is a nice supplement to the well brewed coffee- whether you take it hot or cold. If you’re in the mood, there is the possibility to chat a bit about the different coffees - and buy a bag from some of the best European roasters to take back home. You should supplement your drink with some of their baked goods - the cookie with white chocolate and tahin was to die for with a melting chocolate center and all sorts of goodness. This place is now on my “has to visit” list when ever I...
Read moreThis place is FANTASTIC. It's a small shop but the selection of drinks and snacks is spot on. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and happy to serve us in English which was kind. All their cakes are home made. I had some of the best babka I have ever had here, and my partner's cookie was warm and molten and delicious (the owner suggested we wait five minutes to get it fresh from the oven - a nice thought).
Definitely recommend this place of you're in the area and...
