Kim's Kitchen - laotisches Bistro — Restaurant in Hamburg

The chef and waiter were both extremely friendly and hospitable. The waiter recommended the Larb, which I ordered. What a flavour bomb! An explosion of flavour and soooo spicy 🌶️ I loved it but must admit I needed help from my friend to finish it. 🙈 My mouth was on fire and tears were streaming down my face but it was at the same time so tasty that I didn’t want to stop eating it😄

My friend ordered the Gaeng Phed and that was also super delicious and was not spicy. The chef even went out of her way to accommodate a special request.

The inside of the restaurant has the feel as if you are visiting a friend or family. It’s really cosy. We were invited to come inside after the other guests had left, and we talked with the owner (chef) and waiter and learned about Laos as well as some of the owner’s history, and also discussed a bit of the world’s current state of affairs.

Sorry,aber ich verstehe die ganzen guten Bewertungen nicht wirklich! Ich war vor ein paar Monaten mal mit meiner Frau dort,wegen der guten Bewertungen. Aber es war komplett skurril, unglaublich schlecht!!! Die Besitzerin (immer alleine im Laden?)war total verpeilt und hat ihren Mund auf bekommen...wirkte total abgenervt,weil wir quasi direkt nach der Öffnung neugierig,freundlich, gespannt und hungrig nach 2 ausgesuchten Gerichten fragten! Murmelte leise vor sich her-bin garnicht vorbereitet,muss mal schauen was ich noch im Tiefkühler habe,bla,bla,bla und holte ungelogen ein tiefgefrorenes noch verpacktes Essen aus dem Kühlschrank und wollte es uns andrehen,warm machen!!!???Ich meinte verdutzt,wir möchten bei ihnen was frisch gekochtes verspeisen und nichts fertiges aus dem Supermarkt! Wie sind nicht spießig und extrem anspruchsvoll...aber sowas ist mir noch niemals passiert!!!Egal,ob sie jetzt eventuell nen schlechten Tag hatte,oder was auch immer...ein absolutes NO-GO!!! Die Antwort ist ja super! Mit Sarkasmus auf einen wahren Vorfall reagieren? Mich quasi als Idioten darstellen? Es ist schon länger her,als ich mit meiner Frau bei ihnen war! Es ist nun mal Fakt,das sie aus nem Kühlschrank,oder Tiefkühlfach...wie auch immer,etwas abgepacktes herausholen wollten!!! Ob von ihnen verpackt,oder aus dem Supermarkt...keine Ahnung! Fakt ist,sie waren völlig verpeilt,völlig durch den Wind und konnten(und wir wollten dann auch nicht mehr)uns nicht was kochen! Und was können Kunden dafür,wenn sie Beziehungsprobleme haben? Da kann ich jetzt kein Mitleid zeigen,wenn ich solch eine Antwort bekomme! An ihrer Stelle hätte ich mich jetzt entschuldigt und mich nicht veralbern,mich quasi als Lügner zu bezeichnen! Das spricht ja mehr für mein Erlebnis...

We had a wonderful time at Kim's kitchen, a Laotian restaurant that offers fresh food, good service, and greeted by the friendly owner and staff. The atmosphere was personal and cozy, and the food was tasty. We especially enjoyed the Larb chicken, the red curry, and the mango lassi. It was a special experience to try a new cuisine and learn about the culture of Laos. I highly recommend Kim's kitchen to anyone looking for a fresh delicious Laotian...
