Paulaner is a chain of restaurants featuring Bavarian food and beer. We have visited a few other outlets in Germany in the past. We visited this Paulaner restaurant for lunch on a Sunday because everything else was closed in the area. We were welcomed by the friendly waitress and had the option to sit at various tables. We sat in the center of the restaurant, which is pretty large. The ambience is nice for a chain. It doesn’t feel genuinely Bavarian, but it will do as a substitute in northern Germany. The menu is extensive, also when it comes to beer. We opted for soup, classic Weißwurst with Pretzel, and Schwarzbiergoulasch, and ordered it with Hefeweizen. The prices are very good, especially considering the quality of the food and the service. The food came quickly, was hot and tasted really well. The Weißwurst was as expected, very tasty, and the Schwarzbiergoulasch was excellent, as was the soup. The waitress was extremely professional and friendly and we felt very welcome throughout our visit. When yearning for Bavarian food in Hamburg, this Paulaner is a very good option (there are other Bavarian restaurants in Hamburg as well of course). Ambience: 3/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Price/quality: 4/5 (good value...

We went for a passing drink a few days before our meal and decided to go back, we definitely set out expectations too high.

Nice location, fairly central in a nice square, short walk to the docklands and Haffen City.

Upon arrival, greeted nicely, told to seat ourselves, seated ourselves and were soon told to move somewhere that suited them due to two sitting on a four. Sure no problem, swiftly after the same table was taken by another couple, no reservations, served with no issues, just inconsistencies. Service was fairly rude throughout. But it was quick and the food was ok... could be better. Beer was fine, would recommend the Zwickel.

When presented with the bill, we politely pointed out an incorrect item, it was corrected, but service went from bad to awful, to the point the guy stopped acknowledging us and just threw the new bill on the table. Pretty poor show.

You'll get an inconsistent service here, and if you have to speak up about anything be prepared for some bad...

This turned out to be quite the find during a recent trip to Hamburg. Late one evening I was frantically searching for something to eat as most restaurants seemed to be full or requiring a reservation. As I strolled through the city, I stumbled upon Paulaner's.... How lovely! I was greeted with a smile and directed towards a table to embark on what turned out to be a great meal! Turned out I was fortunate enough to have shown up on Schnitzel-Day(Monday). Thankful for the help of a local at the next booth I was directed to partake in Schnitzel-Day, FANTASTIC!!!! Highly Recommend!
