We frequently eat Asian food and have been through a large number of Asian restaurants in Hamburg. There are many excellent Asian restaurants in the city, but this one probably tops them all in this price range. The restaurant has a very nice ambience, with tables of varying sizes. There is a seating area with “fake” floor seating tables. It appears as though you are sitting on the floor, but it actually is comfortable as you have space for your feet and legs below the table. The staff members are very attentive and friendly, and accommodate your requests in a very professionally manner. That said, this restaurant is very popular and without a reservation, even for lunch on a weekend, you may be out of luck. The menu is very extensive, with many choices in different categories. It isn’t exclusively Thai, but the vast majority if dishes are Thai. We tried several different dishes and the quality and taste was top notch. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. The taste is wonderful and the presentation as well. The mango sticky rice dessert is fantastic - as if it was in Asia. It is hard to find such high quality mangoes in Europe. The food is served promptly and is nicely presented, with lots of care and attention of the staff. We will keep coming back to Samui - it is well worth the price of the dishes, and prices aren’t excessive at all. My favorite Thai restaurant in Europe, no doubt. I go there at least once a month and the food is always so good and well prepared as the first time I was there, they also have amazing vegetarian options and the coconut ice desert is completely amazing. What I also love in this restaurant are the Thai tables on the floor, it gives a special feeling about the Thai culture as well.

The reason I’ve given just 3 stars was the horrible experience that I had the last time I was there, well, I made a reservation for 20:00 to show my mom my favorite restaurant in Hamburg (she is visiting me from Brazil) and I was ashamed the way the woman in entrance treated us, like I said we had a reservation at 20:00 and we got our table at 22:20 - MORE THAN 2 HOURS WAITING - that was completely insane and disrespectful, I understand that sometimes things go out of control and you can wait 20 minutes even if you have a reservation, but sadly not our case I have no words to describe it. The woman in the entrance also made a horrible customer service, giving us the feeling that we should expect that and that is normal. NO!! IT IS NOT NORMAL!!
