Shalimar The Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Hanover

I will give this restaurant a 2.5-star rating.

Me and my friend ordered a salty lassi, a large coke, a chicken tikka masala, a laccha paratha, akbarri chicken kebab.

Step by step review for the new visitors-

In order to get the menu, you have to wait for more than 10 minutes. Less number of service staff. They send multiple servers to a single table. Every time you have to repeat yourself. The quantity of food is not enough. No option of choosing between rice and raita. They do not make fresh lassi for you. I had to cancel my Mango Lassi because server told me that they prepare in bulk for the day. This means that the person who is having sugar problems cannot order lassi without sugar. This is what I was told by the server. For 4 euros, you only get 150 ml of raita in a small bowl. The rice served with Chicken tikka was not Basmati and some bad quality long rice. The grain size was not long and was very puffy.

The good thing is that the spice level was adjusted according to our request. I had the best laccha...

I had some Dal makhni, butter garlic naan, rice, papad, Raita, cocktail and Kulfi there.

Ended up ordering one more glass of cocktail, it was so good! The first glass looked quite presentable (and reminded me of Goa with that little umbrella decor on it) but the second glass didn't. Which is why I deducted a star.

Dal makhni was creamy, naan was super soft and flavourful, and raita had the right amount of salt and vegetables. So good!

Kulfi was totally disappointing. The presentation was good, they added some sugar syrup (maybe Honey/Agave) chocolate syrup and dried flaky nuts on the top but the actual Kulfi in itself lacked flavor, moisture and creaminess.

Not sure why the cook at Indian restaurents in Europe don't add salt in the rice while boiling it, I am not used to adding the salt separately.

It was expensive but most items were delicious. The service was quick and the staff was energetic, warm, interactive :)
