Pipavido — Restaurant in Herzogenrath

I never wrote review before in my life, and this will be the first and very long one (sorry).

To start with a good side, I have visited/recommended Pipavido many times in the last few months since I am on a project in Herzogenrath and took many of colleagues personally there as food (especially pizza) is really good.

Today, I have ordered lasagnas from Daily Lunch Offers (tried it before in "combination" dish) which unfortunately this time were seriously lacking minced meat. After addressing it in half joke to waiter who brought it, I showed it to chef who was claiming meal is ok. On that chef took plate from my hands saying if I do not to like it, I do not need to eat it. I tried to explain once again that is not matter of liking it, it is just there is practically no minced meat inside. Due to my bad German/mix to English, my explanation failed, so I just gave up and went back to sit with my other three colleagues, still hungry with meal taken.

But real problem came when we all came to pay, they wanted to charge for lasagna I have barely touched. I tried to ask how it that possible, that I am regular customer, and would pay my meal if at least I ate it. Waiter, who was really nice and friendly, address it to the boss of the shift, and there true drama and embarrassment started.

I was given explanation that reason my lasagna were so poor with meat is because it is Daily Offer (guess good to know for other visitors), even though my colleague ate Penne Bologna also from Daily Offer, but they were super rich with the minced meat! The waiter even mentioned having the same Bolognese sauce (lasagna should have only cream extra mixed as explained by waiter), so something went wrong with my meal.

In all that talk I was not clear on if I am paying or not, so I asked once again, on which boss started to yell, gesticulating in really bad manners, saying that we are stopping the other guests, while he was the one who started to yell and actually dragging attention. And there were only 2 other guests at the time in our section already served, so we were not stopping anyone, and definitely not wanting to make anyone else uncomfortable so we kept friendly tone until yelling started.

He did not want to listen the waiter who served us, just making wrong assumption, and then finally, theatrically destroy the bill saying none of us needs to pay. My colleagues still try to give money, but then he gave us order to leave and saying we are not allowed to ever come back. UNBELIEVABLE!

While leaving, the waiter apologized for the situation, as he knew we are regular guests, who were always happy with the food, and I would pay for it if at least I ate it liking it or not.

I still cannot calm down after this horrible situation and humiliation, but I have last comment for Pipavido shift boss or whatever it is his official role: SHAME ON YOU!

For Pipavido if they ever read: We came back even after small incident when you just employed a new waiter, who was still not experienced enough, so he drop the plate with hot pasta on our table, where part of hot sauces end on my colleague hands and t-shirts. As she was not seriously burned, we just took it with smile and apology of other staff boss, who even offered to pay dry cleaning, which we did not take, as shirt was not really valuable. Unfortunately this boss is gone, and replaced with this new person, or maybe there is two shifts so we were always lucky before coming when other boss...

Wij gingen geregeld naar Pipavido vanwege het lekkere eten en omdat we het er steeds gezellig vonden maar na ons laatste (niet uitgezeten) bezoek was het dat dan ook. Ons laatste bezoek! De meneer die ons ontving kwam helaas bij ontvangst al gestresst over. Wij waren met 9 personen en hadden uiteraard gereserveerd. Het regende echter enorm en wij mochten in de tent naast het restaurant plaatsnemen. Prima, geen probleem. Vanwege de enorme regen eerst nog vriendelijk gevraagd of we niet de (ook gereserveerde) tafel in de hoek konden krijgen (die onder het vaste dak stond) maar daarop reageerde meneer geagiteerd dat dat niet ging en als het wel had gekund had hij dat ook gedaan, zei hij. Nou prima, vragen staat vrij dus als het niet gaat verder wederom geen probleem. Wij mochten plaatsnemen aan een tafel waar het wel 'ein bisschen tropft'. Nou dit 'tropfen' werd helaas steeds erger want het was ook gewoon vreselijk weer. Voor iedereen vervelend uiteraard. Naarmate we wachtten werden onze tafels zo nat dat het ons niet prettig leek om hier nog aan te eten, mits je van waterpizza houdt. Aangezien een aardige juffrouw inmiddels onze drankbestelling al had opgenomen ben ik netjes gaan vragen of dit al klaar was en zo ja wilde ik netjes doorgeven dat we dat dan zouden opdrinken en betalen maar dat we vanwege die natte tafels niet zouden blijven om te eten. Meneer kreeg dit mee en vroeg naar mijn naam en begon vervolgens een heel verhaal over dat hij die naam nog eens extra zou noteren 🥹 en bij een volgende keer als ik reserveerde en het was slecht weer dat hij dan mijn reservering aan iemand anders zou geven enz. Nou ja zeg! Ik was netjes, ben er altijd graag gekomen maar dit gaat me te ver. Bovendien waren anderen van de groep al naar buiten want die waren er sowieso al klaar mee. Dus heel jammer en zo had ik het zeker niet gewild maar dit was het dan voor ons. Geen Pipavido meer voor onze groep en onze families. Lekkere pizza krijg je op meer plaatsen dan alleen hier. Maar we zijn enorm teleurgesteld in deze meneer. Klantvriendelijkheid bij regen en drukte is blijkbaar ver te zoeken. Hebben uiteindelijk heerlijk (en droog) gegeten bij Il Jardino in...

They do a very delicious Pizza, however, when last time I tried their lasagne, I was very disappointed. Overcooked lasagne sheets lacking salt, with very small amount of meat and a very strange creamy tomato sauce. I lived for nearly two decades in Italy, and I experienced this kind of food only in the worst touristic fake restaurants, where people were pretending to be Italian. Moreover, the staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. The person who gave us the bill did not even have an eye contact with us, he nearly even considered us.
