Eden — Restaurant in Jena

This restaurant has become my go-to spot for those evenings when I find myself without plans and looking for a delightful dining experience. It's not the result of a specific craving or a planned outing; rather, it's the kind of place you end up in when you can't think of anything else to do. Yet, every time I've stepped through the door, I've been consistently surprised by the exceptional quality of the food and the overall dining experience.

While the menu prominently features burgers and fries, what stands out is the thoughtful inclusion of vegan options and healthy salads. As someone who's been here multiple times and isn't particularly drawn to a specific type of cuisine, I appreciate the variety that caters to different tastes and dietary preferences.

Having frequented this establishment on numerous occasions, I've sampled a range of dishes, and each time, the culinary execution has been nothing short of impressive. The flavors are consistently delightful, showcasing a commitment to quality ingredients and culinary expertise.

My experience today was really bad. The food is actually really good but service is 0. Our waiter today either forgot we were even there or forgot our order and I went to tell her downstairs after we had waited patiently for over an hour..(an hour 15mins) at that point. We were given free drinks but no apologies and when my husband was paying the bill as we left this waiter had the effrontery to say next time I should complain nicely and not so aggressively because she just works there. Are you kidding me? Me reminding you that a table of 4 needs to be served after patiently waiting over an hour is considered aggressive. Or is it asking how long it will take because we have things to do. Everyone who came after us left and there was no apologies from anyone only excuses about misplacing the order ( which could happen) but then the nerve to say that after all was just unbelievable.. I can't really express myself fluently in German so she was lucky. I don't even understand what she meant by "i just work here" because why will I complain to you if you don't work there. You are literally our server who forgot our table and somehow going to remind you in a stern tone is aggressive. Am I supposed to be happy you wasted an hour 15mins of my time. It could be understandable if I came into a full house. The tables were empty when we sat down and everyone that arrived after us left us there. I wouldn't have left a review if she hadn't had the nerve to be rude like she did something right as we were leaving. You don't have to be nice but do your job if you have chosen to work here....

Ich habe kein Vertrauen mehr in das Eden. Am liebsten würde ich null Sterne geben.

Ich war immer gerne im Eden essen, mit Freunden und Familie, da sie sowohl für Vegetarier/Veganer und „Omnivoren“ eine gute Auswahl anbieten und jeder fündig wird. Ich selbst bin vegan (das spielt für diese eine große Rolle, deshalb erwähne ich das).

Wir waren vor zwei Wochen für einen Geburtstag dort. Das wird das letze Mal gewesen sein, dass ich das Eden besuche. Eine Freundin (ebenfalls vegan) und ich wollten uns zusätzlich zu veganen Burgern die veganen Nuggets teilen. Sie hatte sie dort schon mal gegessen. Ich habe bei der Bestellung betont, dass wir die veganen Nuggets wollen. Als die Bestellung kam, hat meine Freundin einen Nugget probiert und meinte, dass er anders schmeckt als sonst. Als ich daran gerochen habe, haben die Nuggets sehr stark nach Fleisch gerochen. Eine weitere Freundin (Omnivore) hat dann probiert und bestätigt: Die Nuggets sind aus Fleisch.

Darauf angesprochen meinte ein Mitarbeiter nur, dass ihnen da ein Fehler unterlaufen sei. Keine Entschuldigung, kein Verständnis, kein Gefühl dafür, wie schlimm die Situation für Menschen ist, die seit Jahren vegan leben. Meine Freundin ist deshalb nochmal zu dem Mitarbeiter gegangen, der unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hat. Auch hier, kein Verständnis, er rollte sogar mit den Augen als sie offensichtlich darüber aufgebracht war. Sein Vorgesetzter kam dann dazu und hat sich entschuldigt, um die Situation zu entschärfen. Da war dann der Drops allerdings auch schon gelutscht. Nach dem Essen kam der Mitarbeiter, der unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hat, nochmal auf uns zu, um sich zu entschuldigen. Das ist auch schön und es ist gut, dass er das gemacht hat. Allerdings sind Rechtfertigungen, wie „sowas kann passieren“ absolut keine Ausrede und sie werten die Entschuldigung ab. Denn nein, sowas DARF nicht passieren. Wenn man sich dazu entscheidet, vegane Produkte auf der Karte anzubieten, sollte man auch gewährleisten, dass so etwas nicht passiert. Das ist mir in 4 Jahren noch nie passiert und auch meiner Freundin, die noch länger vegan lebt, nicht. Und selbst wenn so etwas passiert, sollte der erste Instinkt sein sich zutiefst zu entschuldigen, ohne Rechtfertigungen. Wir waren beide sehr enttäuscht. So habe ich kein Vertrauen mehr in das Eden und werde nicht nochmal dort hin gehen. Und ich kann es anderen Menschen, die fleischfrei leben auch nicht guten Gewissens...
