We found a gem in Kehl!! The Baldner’s Gasthof Schwanen in Kehl was an amazing place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, most of them spoke very good English. We got to the hotel by 12 noon and they showed us the room right away even before we signed in. They wanted to know if we approve of the room that they've assigned to us. That was very nice gesture.||||This hotel also has a lovely restaurant that serves delicious food, they offer set menus or ala carte. We ate lunch on our first day and it was superb. ||||The proprietor, Dr. Baldner, is very friendly, and even chatted with my husband. ||||Room: We had the best room it was huge with comfy bed, sitting area, TV, big wardrobe cabinets, it has a homely feel. The room is at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor and we found it very quiet. ||||Bathroom: A good sized bathroom with separate shower stall and bathtub, 2 sinks (just perfect for a couple with separate toiletries). No shampoo or soap provided, so bring your own. No problem with us, coz we always bring our own toiletries. ||||Breakfast: Very good buffet breakfast, with lots of choices.||||Parking: In front of the restaurant, free of charge during our stay.||||The main reason we stayed in Kehl was to tour Strasbourg, France. We got the right hotel, the location of this hotel is just across the Europa bridge, which separates Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany. ||||We got a car and so it was a convenient 10 - 15 minutes drive to get to the town center of Strasbourg. The train station is just across the street, but it was also far away that we were not disturbed by any noise. I can't comment on the taking the train to Strasbourg, coz we didn't use it.||||We highly recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a clean, safe and efficient place to stay in Kehl. Much better if you got a car and want to tour Strasbourg, or Colmar, France. We would come back to this hotel next time we're in...

Read moreWe stayed here during our bike tour along the river rhein. The hotel is right in the center of Kehl and directly across from the train station but still quiet enough for a good nights sleep. We had a room with twin beds as there was no double room available but the room was very clean and although a little bit on the small side very nice and tidy. We were able to store the bikes in the garage were they were safe for the night. ||||We got the train to strasbourg which took about 10 mins but the girl at check said that it is equally as quick with the bus. Strasbourg was nice and well worth the visit. We did have a look for a restaurant in the evening but ended up eating in the hotel restaurant/biergarden which was the best choice. The food was fantastic and the setting nice. ||||After a good nights sleep a typical european buffet breakfast which rolls, cheese and ham, jam, nutella plus fruit, boiled egg, tea, coffee all nicely set out in the cosy breakfast room.||||All in all a very pleasant experience and well...
