NOVA Essen & Trinken — Restaurant in Kempten (Allgäu)

I visited Nova last week with friends. The food is quirky (a mix of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes), all with a twist, though one that doesn't really work well in my view. The avocado salad sounded great, but it was warm, and strangely bland. However the shocking treatment I received at the hand of Hussein the manager is what forces me to give such a low score. When our main dish arrived we asked if two portions of fries could be added - as long as they came quickly. The waiter said it would take only one and a half to two minutes - so we ordered them. However, in the end it took ten minutes for them to arrive by which time we were a mouthful away from finishing our food. I told the waiter that as they had not come in anything like the promised time I would like him to take one portion back. He protested but I insisted so he took one away. Two minutes later another gentleman strode up to our table, portion of fries in hand. "I understand you are sending these fries back" he said aggressively. I confirmed, and explained why. "So what am I going to do with them?" he said. I replied that I didn't know, and it wasn't really my problem. "Well I am going to put them on the bill" he said. I told him that if he did, I was not going to pay. "Oh you're not going to pay? I will remember that!" ("das werde ich mir merken") he said, and put the fries on the neighbouring table - I assume that the people seated there were friends of his. When our waited returned I asked him who that was and he told me it was Hussain, who is the boss. At that point we decided to leave and have dessert and coffee elsewhere. Whatever you think of the food (we didn't like it at all, though others clearly do) the way Hussain treats his customers says a lot about this place, and I wouldn't go...

Absolutely a great restaurant and place to eat. Caters to people looking for a vegan restaurant, burger restaurant or more meat based restaurant.

We started there with some cocktails and they were pretty great. Afterwards, the food was really good. It was tasty, was presented nicely and there was a large variety in choice. We were craving some veggies and this was definitely possible with the vegan dishes.

Meals were generally priced really fairly to what was given. And maybe a bit unconventional, the vegan dishes were cheaper than expected and could actually be higher and still be priced fairly (e.g. a vegan desert of 1,50 that could easily have deserved a 4 euro price point).

Although the servers were really really busy they were incredibly friendly and offered good service. I just wished they would have an extra server to make their life a bit better for them.

Waren in diesem Lokal zum Silvester- Dinner. Kurz zusammengefasst: das Essen war geschmacklich echt klasse von der Vorspeise bis zur Nachspeise, allerdings war zwischen den Gängen eine enorme Wartezeit und man wurde etwas aufdringlich zum Getränke bestellen gedrängt.

Von Beginn, wir hatten über das Internet nach einer Location für den Silvesterabend gesucht und sind auf das Nova gestoßen. Nach einem kurzen Anruf wurde einmal Vegan und einmal mit Fleisch beinhaltend bestellt. Leider kam weder eine Info, wie der ganze Abend von statten geht noch sonstige Infos bzgl. Unverträglichkeiten oder Ähnliches. Erst nach dem ich im Lokal angerufen hatte bekam ich einen Tag vorher die Info, dass man um 18:45 da sein solle damit pünktlich um 19:00 mit dem ersten Gang begonnen werden kann. Um 19:30 wurde ein Gläschen Erdbeermagarita gereicht, um 20:00 Uhr das erste „Häppchen“ ein Stück Weißbrot mit einem Salatblatt und einer Creme. Ungefähr im halbe Stundentakt wurden die Speisen gereicht bzw. wurde da am ersten Tisch serviert, bis der letzte Tisch den Gang vor sich hatte vergingen nochmals Minuten. Das warten zwischen den Gängen war unerträglich, denn es war weder ein Programm noch sonst eine Unterhaltung was meiner Persönlichen Meinung ganz passend gewesen wäre. Auch hätte ich persönlich mir gewünscht, dass der Inhaber wenigstens ein kurzes Willkommen oder ein „schön, dass Sie hier sind“ vorgetragen hätte. Sei’s drum.

Die Speisen waren geschmacklich super, hier gibt es nichts zu meckern! Jedoch war zum einen das timing etwas schlecht gewählt ebenso die Gangreihenfolge. Kleine Vorspeise hier, kleine Vorspeise bzw Süppchen dort, vor dem eigentlichen Hauptgang (welches der vorletzte Gang sein sollte) kamen zwei Kugeln süßes Sorbet und im Anschluss eine etwas größere Portion Kohlrouladen oder Fleisch. Nach dem fast 3 Stunden auf den Hauptgang warten hatte man verständlicher weise keinen Appetit mehr auf den eigentlichen Gang. Bei meinem Anruf Tage zuvor wurde ausdrücklich kommuniziert, dass man um 18:45 vor Ort sein sollte damit pünktlich um 19:00 mit dem Servieren begonnen werden kann, da spätestens um 22:30 das Essen beendet sein sollte und man sich um 23 Uhr in der dazugehörigen Bar einfinden kann.

Was mich persönlich störte war, dass kaum war das Glas Wein etwas leerer kam ein Kellner und nahm meine Flasche und schenkte ständig nach, dies geschah auch mit der Flasche Wasser.

Also in großen und ganzen, war das Essen gut aber ich werde nicht wieder einen Platz im Nova reservieren. Preislich sind 65€ für vegan und 75€ fleischhaltig +- 15€ pro Person für...
