START We found the hotel on booking.com and it offered us the price of 76€ for the first and 80€ for the second night. As I am a Hotelmanager myself and studied "International Hotelmanagement" I know that hotels are paying a specific percentage to the Wholesalers. Between 13 and 22% for each booking. Hotels want to achieve that the guest book directly so they don't need to pay it. As we saw the price I immediately called the hotel and told them what booking is offering me. At the beginning it seemed like it will be cheaper for us to book there. But the receptionist said that I can send her the screenshot and she will call us back. 40 Minutes later she did and offered us exactly the same price. Nothing in addition. So now it would be still better to use booking.com because of the points we can collect. But I didnt want to argue so I booked with her. Parking there is free which is great!

The location is quite interesting. There is a supermarket "Lidl" nearby which closes at 10pm! Great! It is also located right next to the river and our rooms had a very nice view!

CHECKIN The Check-in was fine. The receptionist didnt really seem welcoming at the beginning but she was professional. She checked our Covid19 status and explained us the rooms and breakfast times etc. She also answered our questions about the E-Scooters which are located at the entrance of the hotel (I can recommend them).

ROOM The rooms are different. We had 2 rooms and as the other room had a nice and big bathroom we just had a very small one just with a shower. Sadly the cabin is not really keeping the water inside. So making the floor wet is something that will happen in this room. I like the shower, body gel refilling system. The window had shatters so even when the sun would shine right into the room we can close them to keep the room cool. Again: Great view! Unfortunately there was no fridge in the room (minibar) to cool the drinks and snacks. It is not necessary but it would habe been nice. Something that I really miss is a safe in the room. As I was working and staying in many hotels this was probably the first time for me seeing no safe in a room.

BREAKFAST The breakfast was 13€ per person and it was incredibly good for that! Nice waiters nice food!

DINNER On the second day we had dinner at the hotel. We had nice table with great view. There were 3 service employees who were serving us. The menu is not that big but that is good. There is something for everyone. We all took different dishes and even 2 dishes from the seasonal menu. The food was not bad. A bit too expensive. Everything tasted good but not extremely great. The young waiter was nice but seemed a little bit nervous. They couldn't remember who ordered which dish and mixed up all of us ( no big deal at all in my opinion but I wanted to mention it) We were all laughing with the service staff. I want to say that they were the nicest ones in there. Thanks to the young waiter and waitress and to the bit older waitress who had some nice wine recommendations and was talking and laughing with us. Good atmosphere.

RECEPTION PART 2 When we wanted to extend for one additional night we talked to another woman who worked there. Horrible. At first she offered us the BAR-Rate (Best Available Rate) of 110 euros. and she said she can go down to 99 euros. Okay that was good. But even that was already in a tone which was super unwelcoming. When I told her that we are going to check booking.com she went a bit mad. Booking offered us the room for 80 euros. She demanded a screenshot and was not talkative at all anymore. She gave us the room for 80 euros (no free drink or anything again) Again: paying commission to the companies is decreasing the margin of the hotel. When we asked for the breakfast vouchers she didnt want to give it to us and said: come later , in a mean tone. The checkout receptionist was great again (red hair)

All in all: nice location and kind of nice rooms but the reception needs to learn something. There are quite some things that need to be...

We had one of the best schnitzels of our entire trip at this restaurant. It was crispy, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious.

Am 1. Juni 1919 erwarb August Diehl das damalige Civilcasino in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein. Gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Elisabeth erfüllte sich August Diehl damit einen Lebenstraum und verwandelte das ehemalige Casino in einen „über den Wassern schwebenden“ Gastronomiebetrieb: die Geburtsstunde der heutigen Rheinterrasse. Mit dem Bau eines ersten Hoteltrakts, legte August Diehl damals den Grundstein für das bis 2018 älteste inhabergeführte 4-Sterne-Hotel in Koblenz.
