Appropriately sized portion size given the price at ~€17/main course. Large outdoor seating area with some shaded and unshaded seating, based on the time of day. Service was good. They accept credit cards. The food was good. We had the schnitzel, knödel with pork and gravy, and a large mixed salad. The Schnitzel was one of the better versions we’ve had in Germany as the crust was different than the usual breading. The pork and gravy dish paired well with the knödel and cabbage salad accompanying the dish. There’s an option for roasted potatoes if you don’t want the knödel. The y have a children’s menu with most of the items being priced near the same as other main course options. There were several draft bier options (all Paulaner) with the usual bottled offerings as well. Easily walkable location from the Echterdingen S-bahn with several bus stops near the restaurant itself. Good option for your typical German Biergarten.

Bisher waren wir immer sehr zufrieden mit dem Restaurant und sind oft und gerne zu Besuch gewesen, sowohl im Biergarten als auch innen. Das Essen war immer toll, besonders das Schnitzel ist geschmacklich äußerst lecker und sehr zu empfehlen. Auch der Service war bisher immer sehr freundlich. Unser letzter Besuch am vergangenen Sonntag war jedoch enttäuschend. Wir bestellten zwei der Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat, welche geschmacklich - wie gewohnt - exzellent waren. Von der Größe her unterschieden sie sich jedoch maßgeblich. Während das eine Schnitzel eine gewohnte Größe hatte, war das andere mindestens ⅓ kleiner - und auch die Portion Kartoffelsalat war erheblich weniger. Als wir die Bedienung darauf ansprachen sagte man uns nur, dass beides die gleichen Schnitzel aus der Küche sind und das eine Schnitzel einen kleinen Teil noch umgeklappt hatte. Schade, das verbesserte die Situation keineswegs, denn trotzdem war die Portion deutlich kleiner. Für einen Preis von 19,50€ kann man, wie ich finde, eine Zuverlässigkeit in der Portionsgröße erwarten. Weiterhin hatten wir auch noch ein kleines Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln am Tisch. Geschmacklich war auch dieses exzellent, die Bratkartoffeln waren jedoch verwerflich (siehe Bild). Solch dunkle Bratkartoffeln den Gästen zu servieren finde ich nicht fair - also sprachen wir auch hier die Bedienung an, dass die Kartoffeln zu dunkel waren und dieser Teil zurückgehen muss. Als Antwort erhielten wir ein „ok“, als wir sagten dass sie das gerne an die Küche weitergeben kann, hieß es „Da haben Sie Recht“. Tut mir leid, das half nun auch nicht weiter und das ist nicht die Servicequalität, die ich gewohnt bin - sehr schade.

There is nothing quite like a delicious Sunday roast, especially on a cold winter day. I came here with a friend as we wanted to eat some German food for a change. The decor was quaint and homey. The service was very good. The meals were very delicious and were healthy portions. I started with the Maultaschen soup. I was impressed with the number of raviolis in a small bowl. My friend tried a small salad. For the main, I devoured a perfectly cooked Zweibelrostbraten or onion roasted beef steak in gravy with roasted potatoes with bits of bacon. Been here for the second time, and the service is still rude. While I understand that things can get busy, that’s no excuse to speak to guests in such a manner. Better planning and organization are strongly recommended. On sunny days, it’s clear that a full house is to be expected. If staff is short, management could take measures such as limiting the menu selection on those days. It would also help to upgrade the system, for example, by introducing order-and-pay options via QR code. I don’t even want to imagine the lost sales due to the lack of better...
