Die blaue Agave — Restaurant in Ludwigsburg

This Mexican restaurant/bar is really nice. The interior furniture looks inviting, the terrace on the outside has plenty of space, offers tents and sunshades for sun protection and generally, the whole place looks really great.

The service was kind and friendly but as there can be lots of guests, there sometimes were some waiting times before you could get attention.

The drinks we've had were pretty good (even in Happy Hour) and the cocktail menu offers lots of choices, both with and without alcohol.

The food was generally delicious - they do use Oaxaca cheese for the quesadillas, the dips and salsas were good, so were the beans and rice. The filled tacos were delicious, the pieces of meat (beef/chicken) were grilled well. One of the prawns was very good, the other one was a bit off (mushy and a bit earthy in taste) but this can happen.

What was not so nice - unfortunately - was the outside situation. As soon as our food plate arrived, a swarm of flies (about 30-40 flies) assembled as well. We ended up eating really fast, while constantly waving our arms around to keep the flies away, but they'd sit everywhere. The service staff told us that this was really bad this year and they had that problem for a few weeks now.

I want to stress that I'm not blaming the restaurant or owners here for this - it's a hot summer and the place is near the central train station, with lots of hotels, so the origin can be anywhere in the vicinity. On our way back towards the station, we saw for example a few big garbage bins that had their lids broken, so this could be a great breeding ground.

In any case, this is a really nice bar/restaurant that I really can recommend - and it will be much better when the current heat period is over, I bet. Thank you...

I moved from Texas, so I was really missing Mexican/Tex-Mex food. This place was suggested for the drinks, but the food was my prime focus. I attempted to order the chicken enchiladas, but they no longer carry them and had not changed over all of their menus. I ended up ordering chicken fajitas, since the only other option for gluten free people is a salad. They did not have soft corn tortillas. The waiter was amazing and is gluten free, so he understood and grabbed some crunch corn tortillas. The chicken was tender and not dry. The rice could have used more seasoning, but overall, it was good and I will return. The daiquiris are not sweet like in the States, but they were good. I tried the strawberry and raspberry one. Being gluten free is hard at restaurants, especially in Germany, but Die Blaue Agave gives you something different to...

Wir waren vergangenen Dienstag Abend in der Blauen Agave.🤩

Da wir zwei Mädels zusammen mit dem 4,5 Monate alten Sohn meiner Freundin, also auch mit einem Kinderwagen, dort hingehen wollten, hatten wir vorher reserviert. In der Reservierung wiesen wir darauf hin und baten zunächst um einen Platz im Biergarten im Schatten.

Als wir ankamen, erkannte man uns natürlich sofort.😉 Wir entschieden uns spontan, dass wir mit dem Kleinen doch besser “drinnen” sitzen wollten. Das war überhaupt kein Problem! Man bot uns einen Tisch am Fenster direkt angrenzend an den Biergarten an (ähnlich wie ein Wintergarten, ein tolles Ambiente) und erklärte uns, dass dieser wahrscheinlich sogar besser als ein Tisch im Biergarten sei, da dort gerade doch einige Bienen unterwegs sind. Für uns wurden dann die Tische so verschoben, dass wir auch problemlos den Kinderwagen “parken” konnten. Da sich allerdings eine Schlawiner-Biene doch ziemlich wohl bei uns am Tisch fühlte, wechselten wir nochmal zwei Tische nach innen, was auch kein Problem darstellte.

Wir wurden dann wunderbar bedient und immer mal wieder gefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist (ohne dass es aufdringlich war!).

Zu Essen gab es für uns den Classic Burger mit Pommes, Tres Amigos und einen Beilagen-Salat. Für den Kleinen die selbstmitgebrachte Milchbar. Überrascht wurden wir mit Tacos vorab, als Überbrückung bis das Essen gebracht wurde, was aber gar nicht so lange gedauert hatte!😉 Die Portionen waren absolut ausreichend - der Beilagen-Salat sogar mehr als das. Er hatte gerade so auf den Teller gepasst.😄 Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker, die Guacamole war übrigens ein Traum!

Bei der Bezahlung wollte ich die Mit-dem-Handy-bezahlen-Methode nutzen. Da ich Kundin bei der Sparkasse bin, wollte das aber so nicht funktionieren (dieses Problem habe ich allerdings öfter und kenne das entsprechend schon). Es empfiehlt sich daher, hier auch die “richtige” Karte oder eben Bargeld dabei zu haben.

Was noch toll war, ist, dass wir gefragt wurden, ob wir im Bleyle-Parkhaus gegenüber geparkt haben, da man dort als Gast der Blauen Agave 4 Stunden kostenlos parken kann. Das wussten wir noch gar nicht, merken uns das aber fürs nächste Mal.
