Also, they feature Franziskaner beer which is already my first choice.||We came back for 9 days to find our old favorites, and after most of those nights and 8 different menu selections here, we found what we really missed. ||I was stationed at Finthen Army Airfield 45 years ago. Our daughter was born at Wiesbaden. . We miss the raucous old men at Wackernheimer Hof. Read moreWe were a party of four senior citizens on a three week train journey visiting some of the major cities of Europe. This was a brief two-night stay prior to returning home to France. This is a family-run hotel/restaurant in a village a few kilometres from the centre of Mainz. It is very comfortable and homely. It has a traditional German feel about it. The staff were all very obliging, friendly and helpful. It helped to have a bit of German language understanding, but one of them who seemed to be in charge had excellent English. The breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant serving regional food and wines and frequented by local people. Mainz itself is well worth a visit and a good base for touring this area of Germany.
