Mima Peru — Restaurant in Mannheim

The restaurant is well decorated and cozy. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is well presented and made with good ingredients. I give it 4 stars because in my opinion the restaurant is losing its Peruvian identity. I was there two years ago (as I live far away I cannot visit the restaurant often) and my experience eating there was different, so much so that it was inevitable to visit the restaurant this time I was in Mannheim. I was surprised that there is no "Chicha Morada or Maracuyá" on the menu as drinks, nor that there is no "canchita" on the table. Neither does "Leche Tigre" and "Papa a la Huancaína", not to mention many other basic dishes of Peruvian food. There are many "fusion" dishes on the menu, which I think are fine, but I think the essence should not be lost. Still, it is a place to go to eat with German friends. Perhaps, having Peruvian music as a background, a Canchita on the table, Inca fabrics as a tablecloth and staff (at least 1), who speaks and knows about Peruvian food would...

1 star only because of how good the ceviche was. Rest of my evening deserves no stars. Despite asking them what’s taking so long, We waited 2 hours for our food. The hosts mother came and asked us how we like it but we still hadn’t received any food so couldn’t comment. After considering to leave without eating, the food finally arrives. I’m hungry beyond imagination so my food is not enough. I’m afraid to order more because then I have to wait even longer. My friend’s octopus dish looked so sad and small (nothing like the photo on Facebook!!) I had to give him my potatoes.

Clearly the kitchen had made a mistake but no efforts to compensate us for our patience. Or even apologize to us. I detested this aspect of their service. I’m disappointed and...

Ich möchte vorwegnehmen, dass ich selbst Gastronom bin und qualitative und daher eher höherpreisliche Gerichte anbiete. Wir kochen auch alles frisch und stellen unsere Produkte selbst her, sodass ich meine behaupten zu können, mich in dem Bereich gut auszukennen.

Aber was hier passiert ist war einfach eine bodenlose Frechheit.

Vorspeise für 14€ waren 4 (kleine) Miesmuscheln mit einer Art Pico de Gallo, das größtenteils nur aus Zwiebeln bestand. 1kg Miesmuscheln dieser Größe liegt bei max. 8€ Einkaufspreis und gibt ca. 40 Stück. Wer Mathe kann weiß direkt: 14€ zu verlangen für 1€ Wareneinsatz ist reine Abzocke.

Das vegane Ceviche (12€) war größtenteils aus rohen weißen Champignons mit Zitronensaft........

Anticuchos (Rinderherz) waren zwar gut zubereitet, aber ca. 70gr (auch hier max. 5 €/kg Einkaufswarenwert) mit 80gr Kartoffeln für 14€........

Cocktail Pisco Sour war in Ordnung, wobei der Barkeeper wohl noch nix von einem Sieb gehört hatte... Eiskristalle im Cocktail sind bei 9€ nicht akzeptabel.

Der Service wirkte überfordert und hatte scheinbar wenig Ahnung von den Gerichten, was an den unterschiedlichen Antworten der Kellnerinnen auf die gleichen Fragen deutlich wurde. Bei dem Preis sollte das Personal wissen, wie die Speisen aussehen und schmecken und nicht aus Planlosigkeit sogar völlig unterschiedliche Gerichte für das bestellte Essen ausgeben und an den Gast bringen.

Ach ja, Flasche Wasser (selbst aufgesprudeltes Leitungswasser, was ich eigentlich total gut finde, da es sehr umweltfreundlich ist) für 6€.........

Insgesamt blieb also das Gefühl von reichlich überteuerten Gerichten, die dazu noch von einem mittelmäßigen Service serviert wurden. Hungrig mit einer 100€ Rechnung zu gehen ist traurig.

Ich hoffe, Personal und Chefs nehmen sich zu Herzen, was ich hier schreibe, denn an sich steckt unendlich viel Potenzial in dem Laden. Aus diesem Grund sind wir auch ohne einen Aufstand zu machen gegangen und haben aus Freundlichkeit sogar noch ein Trinkgeld dagelassen, was der Abend unterm Strich aber definitiv...
