My boyfriend and I were driving from Munich to Zurich and wanted to stop halfway for lunch, and decided on Memmingen. Zur Blauen Traube seemed to have been open all day Sunday, and it was so highly rated, so we stopped there. The food was excellent, and the menu had items that were local to the area, and so delicious. The quantities were massive. We even tried at least 5 varieties of local schnapps! The ambiance was cozy and quaint. But the service was spectacular; we mostly dealt with Daniel, who entertained us and became our new best friend, and had us rolling around laughing. (I’d like to mention that one review said that he was racist for asking a guest to leave who was behaving out of line, but I actually saw him welcome a Turkish family into the place, and insist that they take the best table in the restaurant, and he treated them as kindly as he did us.)

We had a wonderful meal on a cold winter's day while travelling in Memmingen. My daughter made a point to tell us her Simba spaghetti Bolognese was delicious. My wife ate a tasty and filling Scandinavia baked potato. I went for the local Allgäuer specialty, Kässpatzn; I thought it would be like a simple macaroni and cheese, the flavour and texture were so much better than my expectations. Staff also conversed with us in English, Russian, and German depending on our preference, which made for a very comfortable atmosphere.

Kürzlich hatte ich das Vergnügen, das Gasthaus "Zur blauen Traube" in Memmingen zu besuchen und möchte meine Erfahrungen teilen. Insgesamt hatte ich eine angenehme und zufriedenstellende Erfahrung. Die Haxe, die ich bestellt habe, war einfach fantastisch. Sie war knusprig von außen und zart im Inneren. Der Geschmack war vorzüglich und hat meine Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Qualität der Speisen war definitiv bemerkenswert. Auch die Spätzle waren gut zubereitet und haben ausgezeichnet geschmeckt. Die Textur war angenehm und die Portion war großzügig bemessen. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass das Bier, das ich probiert habe, etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig war. Der Geschmack entsprach nicht ganz meinen Vorlieben. Geschmäcker können jedoch sehr subjektiv sein, und es könnte sein, dass andere Gäste das Bier mögen. Der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Personal war aufmerksam und sorgte dafür, dass wir uns wohl und gut betreut fühlten. Das trug definitiv zu einer positiven Erfahrung bei. Das Interieur des Gasthauses war authentisch und vermittelte eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Die Einrichtung war charmant und passend zum Stil des Gasthauses. Insgesamt kann ich sagen, dass mein Besuch im Gasthaus "Zur blauen Traube" eine angenehme Erfahrung war. Die köstliche Haxe, die guten Spätzle, der freundliche Service und das authentische Interieur trugen zu einem gelungenen Besuch bei. Ich kann das Gasthaus weiterempfehlen und würde gerne wieder dort speisen.

This place was superb - with excellent food, a lovely, warm atmosphere and amazingly friendly staff I would recommend a visit. The food was amazing value for money and the portions are beyond generous (the Schwienhaxe is meant for 2 but I tried to tackle it myself…almost got it!).

The two barmen/waiters who served us were friendly and informative and clearly had a passion for the food, the area and the establishment. They very kindly spoke to us in English (although we gave our limited German the best go possible) and it made our first night in Memmingen extremely memorable.

My wife and I were visiting Memmingen for the day and passed by Zur blauen Trauben while walking around in the city. The German dialect on the signs outside, plus the "dogs welcome" declaration on the door, told us we were in the right place. The rustic wooden interior decor was a treat for the eyes, and the food was a treat for our tastebuds. My wife had the Schwabenteller and I had the Memminga Groeschdl. Both were fantastic and exactly what we were craving! Don"t leave without trying one or two of the schnapps that are on tap ... as a digestive...
