Vulkan was a great find! We stopped here for a semi-quick dinner break during our road-trip. It is close to the highway, but also a nice location, very atmospheric. We sat in the shade under the trees and tried two of their alcohol-free beers (since we both had to drive). We had the IPA and the the grapefruit Weizen. I think I preferred the IPA, but both were really good! 👍 Dinner was also very nice. We were in the mood for some classic German food so I ordered the Wildgulasch mit burgundersoße, Apfelrotkohl & kartoffelklöße, and my husband got the schweinehaxe with biersoße, sauerkraut & kartoffelklöße. Both were very nice and served very quickly. It's also great that Vulkan has an accessible entrance, an accessible toilet and two dedicated parking spaces for people with disabilities 🙏

Vulkan is awesome. It was playing Alice Cooper’s “Poison” when we arrived - and that’s pretty cool first impression. Then there was the beer… The brewery has great classic German styles but is not afraid of inventiveness. The staff is very nice with “curious” tourists like myself and there was this dude called Mike that really showed he cares about the beers and made me feel home while sharing the particularities of each brew. They serve good vegan options and have a pretty cool store where you can buy beers, beer schnapps, whisky, bread and some souvenirs. I just regret I could not get to the beer cellar - it’s only open on Saturdays and Sundays. Maybe next time!

We really enjoyed the beer and the food was great but it was overshadowed, unfortunately, by the lack of service. After 20 minutes of being ignored in a 20% filled beirgarten, my partner ended up going and finding a server. We watched a table of 4 get up and leave after sitting for 25 minutes with no acknowledgement. We certainly understand that sometimes things get busy but the complete lack of acknowledgement put a damper on the evening. However, catch this place on another night and I bet that won't be a factor! The beer is completely top notch and the food? Absolutely out of this world!

Service was horrible.

I wanted a plate with bread and cheese and something that I knew they served. The waitress insisted they didn't. Instead she could offer a Bockwurst. Because she urged me to make a choice, I had the wurst. Then someone at the table next to me pointed me to the correct menu item. So I walked to the waitress and told her that item 515 was what I meant and asked her to change the order. She would not. It was already submitted.

Eventually we wanted to pay. She was gone, so we asked her colleagues and even the manager. They all told us that she'd be right back. Only when we stood up to leave, there she was.

After paying she caught up to us at the parking spot because she forgot to charge a drink.

Never seen...

We have just read some not so kind reviews. However each to there own. We stumbled across this place by chance, as we where staying in a motor home aire just 100m away. We heard the noise the other side of the football pitch. On investigation we found most of the town drinking and dining the place was busy to overflowing. We looked lost but soon found by a barman who within seconds had our drinks served and a very friendly chat. In fact every one made us welcome to the point we felt part of the town. We had a great night with good company and looking forward to returning on our travels down to Lake Constance. Up to you to keep your own tab.Very different system to ours, this is the whole point of travelling....
