Nice, historic restaurant/hotel located directly on the market square in an extremely beautiful and well preserved old German village. If you are visiting Monschau this is almost certainly the best located property in town, surrounded by historic buildings with a view of the river.||||This little hotel is more appropriately described as a restaurant which also rents out a few rooms upstairs; this is a common situation in Europe but might confuse folks from the other side of the pond. Service is pretty minimal; breakfast and daily room cleaning were extra, although everything seemed pretty reasonably priced given the location. There is no parking on premises, but their is a parking lot about 2 blocks away and the hotel provided us with a multiday pass for a modest fee (I believe it was EU$ 3/day).||||Our room was essentially an attic apartment; it was extremely spacious and fully equiped with kitchen, washer (which we did not use), TV, separate dining area, and 2 bedrooms. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The bathroom was huge, a luxury in Europe. Views of the market and river where on 2 sides.||||We paid for included breakfast and this turned out to be a great option. You get a coupon good at two of the restaurants on the market square. The breakfast at the bakery across the market was awesome.||||On the down side, the third floor apartment is reachable only by several sets of narrow spiral staircases; if you have a lot of luggage or are averse to stairs this would make you uncomfortable. In addition, the hotel is directly adjacent to a church steeple, which rings loud bells on occasion. Suprisingly, the room is very well soundproofed, and this did not bother us very much. But if you are a late sleeper you might consider this.||||On the whole, this was a fine place to stay. It is a great location, and the price is surprisingly low. It would be a good choice if you don't mind stairs and are not looking for full service...

Read moreA lovely hotel in a very charming little town.||We stayed in apartment 5, on the top floor. There was 4 of us and this had plenty of space for us all to spread out. The views from the windows were absolutely gorgeous. ||The kitchen has everything you would need to cook meals and a lovely fridge & dishwasher too. Large bathroom with bath and separate shower. There is a small dining table too. This was great for our group as it meant we could gather together for meals, but also we had our own space to go and relax alone too (ideal as we were on a 10 day trip through Belgium and Germany so, much as we like each other, it is nice to have that space as opposed to all sharing one room! particularly as 2 are easy risers and 2 like to sleep in}.||There is a car park less than 5 mins walk from the hotel, which has 2 electric chargers if you need that too. ||The whole town feels very safe. It tens to open up around 10am, with plenty of lovely coffee and cake places etc and everything seems to close around 9.30 to 10pm, as is usual in small towns. I cannot tell you how pretty it all is! Everyone seemed really friendly. I recommend the little cafe across the street for coffee /cakes too! Delicious! Very well priced as well.||Check in is in the restaurant downstairs. We didn't ever get time to eat there but it all smelled delicious! We didn't get the names of the young man and woman (maybe aged around early 20s) who helped us check in on our arrival night but they were so kind and lovely.||Be aware that this is a very old town so the buildings are quaint and old too - so watch your head! Ha ha! Very low ceiling on the staircase but once inside the...
